Johns Hopkins Oncology is a leading healthcare institution dedicated to providing exceptional patient care, advancing medical research, and fostering innovation in oncology services. Our commitment to excellence has positioned us as a premier destination for cancer care across regional, national, and international settings.

We are seeking a highly experienced, autonomous System Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to support the entire Cancer Service Line across multiple domestic sites and international partnerships. This role is designed for a senior CNS who will function as a clinical expert, systems leader, and evidence‑based practice champion, providing hands‑on clinical leadership to support program expansion, quality, safety, and practice harmonization across the enterprise.

This is a system‑level role best suited for an experienced CNS who thrives in a dynamic, project‑based environment and is comfortable operating with a high degree of independence.

Key Responsibilities:

Leads quality and patient safety initiatives through gap analyses, needs assessments, and data‑driven decision‑making across multiple sites.

Translates best evidence into practice and facilitates integration of programs across regional, national, and international oncology settings.

Defines, tracks, and analyzes clinical metrics to monitor outcomes, compliance, and variation in care delivery.

Conducts on‑site assessments to evaluate workflows, identify contributing factors to variation, and implement corrective actions.

Supports domestic expansion and international oncology partnerships in collaboration with Johns Hopkins International.

Functions as a system clinical leader, influencing practice change and supporting sustainable implementation.

Represents the organization in professional, academic, and specialty forums related to oncology nursing and clinical nurse specialist practice.

Serves as a clinical resource to nurses and interprofessional teams by modeling best practice, demonstrating procedures, and validating competency.

Supports clinical teams during new program launches, workflow redesign, and implementation of new therapies, technologies, or equipment.

Uses advanced communication skills to navigate complex clinical, operational, and system‑level challenges.

Leads system‑wide evidence‑based practice (EBP) initiatives across the cancer service line.

Develops population‑based clinical profiles and conducts inquiries to identify variation in practice and opportunities for improvement.

Designs, implements, and evaluates evidence‑based policies, procedures, protocols, and care models to ensure consistency across all sites.

Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited Clinical Nurse Specialist program with a Master's Degree

Post‑Master Certificate, DNP, or PhD preferred (or exception per MBON regulations)

Board certification in area of specialty or population focus aligned with oncology practice (e.g., Adult‑Gerontology) or exception per MBON regulations

Minimum 3-5 years of full‑time experience in oncology or related specialty

Prior experience functioning as a Clinical Nurse Specialist with demonstrated autonomy

Current unrestricted MD licensure as a Registered Nurse or multistate licensure privilege

Current unrestricted MD certification as a Clinical Nurse Specialist or Advanced Compact to practice as a CNS
