Inova Women's Services is seeking a visionary System Chief of Obstetrics to lead obstetric care across the entire Inova Health System. This role provides strategic, operational, and clinical leadership for obstetrics at all Inova hospitals, including the flagship Inova Women's Hospital at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus, a nationally recognized Maternal Level of Care IV tertiary referral center.
This full-time position includes 0.7 clinical FTE and 0.3 administrative FTE dedicated to system-wide oversight of obstetric services, quality and safety initiatives, program development, multidisciplinary integration, and advancement of evidence-based obstetric care across diverse clinical environments.

Key System Leadership Responsibilities:
Provide shared system leadership with Maternal-Fetal Medicine, ensuring unified standards, joint clinical decision-making frameworks, and system-wide alignment of evidence-based practices for both routine and high-risk pregnancies.
Strengthen care integration across all Inova obstetric units, aligning standards, pathways, safety bundles, and performance expectations to reduce maternal morbidity and mortality.
Facilitate strong cross-disciplinary collaboration with Pediatrics, Neonatology, Anesthesia, Pharmacy, Nursing, Maternal-Fetal Medicine, and Complex Family Planning to ensure comprehensive, coordinated care.
Champion clinical research and innovation, supporting the development, implementation, and dissemination of research studies, quality improvement initiatives, and new models of care that advance maternal health.
Support education and training, partnering with OB/GYN residency and MFM fellowship leadership to enhance teaching, simulation, curriculum development, and professional growth for residents, fellows, and advanced practice providers.
Lead programmatic growth aligned with Inova's commitment to excellence in maternal and reproductive care, patient experience, health equity, and high-reliability performance.
Serve as the physician leader for obstetric services, ensuring delivery of safe, high-quality, evidence-based care across all inpatient and outpatient settings.
Provide clinical and medical oversight for obstetric operations, promoting excellence in patient safety, quality outcomes, and patient experience.
Facilitate effective coordination among employed, community, and independent physicians, ensuring seamless systemwide communication and unified practice standards.
Foster collaboration among Inova OB/GYN, InovaCares, OB Emergency Department physicians, Laborists, Midwives and independent community provider groups.
Lead initiatives to harmonize routine obstetric services across all sites, ensuring consistent clinical standards, protocols, and patient management strategies.
Oversee the development and implementation of standardized clinical pathways and algorithms, ensuring adherence through data review, simulation, and multidisciplinary education.
Guide initiatives aimed at reducing primary and repeat cesarean section rates through evidence-based interventions, provider engagement, and continuous quality improvement.
Champion a culture of exceptional patient experience, high-functioning teamwork, and coordinated, patient-centered models of care.
Monitor and improve key quality metrics\u2014including cesarean rates, maternal morbidity, severe maternal events, and neonatal outcomes\u2014and drive systemwide improvement initiatives.
Support continuing medical education and professional development for physicians, registered nurses, and other members of the obstetric care team.
