JT4 provides engineering and technical support to multiple western test ranges for the U.S. Air Force and Navy under the Joint Range Technical Services Contract, better known as J-Tech II. We develop and maintain realistic integrated test and training environments, and prepare our nation's war-fighting aircraft, weapons systems, and aircrews for today's missions and tomorrow's global challenges.

 

JOB SUMMARY:

Evaluates system specifications, installs enterprise computer systems, configures systems, establishes standards, ensures hardware/software compatibility and maintains workstations and server systems focusing on the Operating system and the network.

Employee will be responsible for the following functions/duties:

  • Performs the daily operational support on the computer Operating System to include system security, access, configuration, backups and restores
  • Specifies network requirements, monitors local area network (LAN) performance, troubleshoots networking hardware and ensures system is working properly according to specifications and parameters
  • Organizes and secures directory structure and assists/trains staff members in the use of department Data Management (DM) Systems, associated databases and Configuration Management (CM)/DM release procedures
  • Maintains and designs functional, visually esthetic web pages
  • Specifies hardware requirements and provides Computer Authorization and custodial receipt listings to track equipment configurations and identification logs
  • Serves as point of contact (POC) for problem reporting, incremental version updates and monitors yearly support contracts
  • Makes recommendations for future hardware/software implementations and related process improvements, schedules, plans and performs system upgrades including the transition from design, test, production and documentation environments
  • Provides operational status as required
  • Uses established policies, procedures, and subject matter knowledge to complete complex assignments requiring originality and ingenuity performed under minimum supervision with considerable latitude for independent contribution
  • Analyzing system logs and identifying potential issues with computer systems.
  • Manage and administer storage solutions including Network-Attached Storage and Storage Area Network (NAS/SAN) systems
  • Research, integrate, or place new technologies into the existing data center

RANGE POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The job duties of a System Administrator V include but are not limited to; deploying end user client hardware, configuring information system services, configuring server/network equipment and addressing any end user concerns. In addition a suitable candidate will have a working knowledge of cybersecurity concepts and best practices.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Asset Lifecycle Management: Responsible for the deployment, maintenance, and decommissioning of all organizational IT hardware and software. This includes the physical installation of workstations (Linux & Windows OS), uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), troubleshooting datacenter hardware, and managing associated structured cabling. Able to design and deploy new datacenter capabilities as required for system expansion and reconfiguration projects. Duties also involve coordinating with external entities for the management of infrastructure beyond our direct responsibility, such as enterprise network switches. Actively assists in the IT asset procurement process by specifying system operating requirements and making recommendations for future hardware/software implementations and related process improvements.

 

System & Network Administration: Involves the deployment and administration of classified remote access networks. Monitors local LAN/WAN and server infrastructure for performance issues and is able to design and deploy new network capabilities as required for system expansion and reconfiguration projects. Schedules, plans, and performs system upgrades, including managing the transition through design, test, production, and documentation environments. Additionally, manages the full lifecycle of user accounts, from creation and initial login support (password changes, email configuration, and network share mapping) to the eventual decommissioning of accounts, including managing user account permissions and access controls on the enterprise network through the IAO Express system.

 

Compliance & Documentation: Conducts regular, systematic inventories of all hardware and software assets to ensure adherence to compliance standards. Develops and maintains comprehensive technical documentation for standard operating procedures (SOPs) within the team.

 

Technical Support: System Administrator V with demonstrated Artificial Intelligence (AI) experience and modern containerization technologies. The ideal candidate must possess hands-on experience with container runtime tools such as Docker, Podman, and Buildah, as well as container orchestration platforms including Kubernetes, HashiCorp Nomad, and K3s. Additionally, candidates should have proven expertise with enterprise container platforms like Red Hat OpenShift, SUSE Rancher, and VMware Tanzu, alongside a strong background in container security, container networking, and container storage technologies. Proficiency in virtualization platforms, specifically VMware vCenter, Microsoft Hyper-V, and Nutanix, is required, as well as extensive experience administering and maintaining Microsoft Windows 11, Microsoft Server (2016-2022), and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 8/9 operating systems.

 

Security & Logistics: Provides escort duties for personnel requiring access to secure areas.

 

The System Administrator V must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance up to Top Secret with Special Access.

 

The System Administrator V must be able to obtain and maintain DoD IAM Level II certification (CompTIA Security+) certification within 6 months of date hired. The System Administrator must be able to work independently, as a member of a team, and as a small team leader. To complete each of these tasks and have very strong verbal and written communications skills.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

A bachelor's degree in associated discipline from an accredited academic institution or equivalent experience through technical training, completion of a recognized certification program, or experience. Requires at least 12 years of experience in computer system related areas of expertise and must possess and apply a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures in computer science, graphics, and information systems.

In addition, a Systems Administrator V must possess the following qualifications:

  • Must have specific experience in the maintenance of Operating Systems and support applications, in a centralized and distributed server environment
  • Must possess planning/organizing skills and must be able to work under deadlines
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a government security clearance
  • Must possess valid, state-issued driver's license
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

SALARY: The expected pay range for this position is $120,000 to $160,000 annually

 

The salary range offered for this position is a good faith description of the expected salary range this role will pay. JT4 LLC considers factors such as (but not limited to) responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and business considerations when extending an offer.

WORKING CONDITIONS: This position involves work typical of an office environment with no unusual hazards. There is occasional lifting (up to 20 pounds), constant sitting and use of a computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while writing, reviewing, and editing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness.
