A night on the floor: what you’ll do

Onsite. Schedule: M–Th; 5:00pm–6:00am.

As a Swiss-Type CNC Setup Technician, you’ll move through a hands-on routine that blends setup, operation, and learning. You’ll begin the shift by preparing CNC Swiss machines for production—loading materials, securing workpieces, and installing the correct tooling. With guidance from senior operators, you’ll reference engineering drawings, models, and specifications to understand machining requirements and help produce parts with complex features and tight tolerances.

Throughout the night you’ll learn the foundations of CNC programming: entering tool offsets, fine-tuning machine settings, and making minor program edits. You’ll perform basic maintenance like cleaning, lubricating, and replacing worn components to keep equipment reliable. As parts come off the machine, you’ll monitor processes, make adjustments as directed, and verify conformance using precision measuring instruments. You’ll also help troubleshoot issues and spot opportunities to improve the process, all while following safety procedures and maintaining an orderly, clean workspace.
