SWIM LESSON INSTRUCTOR
Supervises, observes and maintains a safe teaching environment while instructing participants in the swim lesson program.

POOL LOCATION: Pueblo County High School, 1050 35th Ln, Pueblo, CO 81006

WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Instructs children, youth and/or adults in learn-to-swim skills and techniques.
- Demonstrates proper swimming skills.
- Complies with lesson plans.
- Supervises classes through skill practice.
- Organizes skill practice to enhance skill learning.
- Uses proper guarding skills and procedures.
- Performs emergency procedures when necessary.
- Provides constant attention to assigned guarding areas.
- Uses safe work practices while on the job, including following proper and established procedure in the use of equipment and wearing appropriate and/or required safety and personal protective gear.
- Works as part of a team, attending training, orientation and/or staff meetings as necessary.
- Enforces program, facility and department rules and regulations; maintains safety, order and discipline of participants and/or customers.
- Performs customer relations role which includes interacting with parents, participants, business or program partners and/or staff to provide information and solve problems, as needed.
- Sets up and puts away equipment as needed.
- Assists in scheduling, training and monitoring performance of instructors/lifeguards.
- Assists with identifying and projecting necessary instructor/lifeguard coverage.
- Assists in monitoring pool staff and with identifying deficiencies in performance. Reports concerns to program director.
- Tests participants for standards when needed.
- Fills in for Program Director as needed.
- Performs other duties as appropriate or necessary for performance of the job.
WHAT YOU HAVE
EXPERIENCE:
- Must have successfully completed Swim Training and have advanced swimming skills.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATES:
- Current Certification or ability to obtain before season begins in Basic Lifeguarding required
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), and First Aid Certification required
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must successfully pass background check
