Job Summary
Exercise Instructor is responsible for providing a well-rounded professional exercise class. She/he maintains expertise in a safe and effective exercise guidelines as set forth by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM). Exercise Instructor serves as a fit role model.
Qualifications
• Employed on a part-time basis. • Applicable professional certification recommended. • Current CPR certification. • Non-tobacco user. • OCH will train the incumbent on all aspects of the Healthcare Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). • HIPAA training and certification are requirements of this position. The incumbent will adhere to all security and patient confidentiality rules and regulations mandated by the Federal Government and the State of Mississippi. Upon commencement of employment, the employee must sign a Patient Confidentiality and Security Agreement and abide by OCH Confidentiality, Privacy, and Security Policies and Procedures. Failure to adhere to HIPAA standards, OCH Regional Medical Center Security and Confidentiality policies, and those set forth by the Federal Government and the State of Mississippi will result in disciplinary action up to and including termination.
Job Relationships
• Responsible directly to the Coordinator of the applicable area. • Works closely with the Coordinator, other Instructors, and class participants.
Principle Accountabilities
• Design classes to meet the needs of class participants. • Offer modification options for individuals.
Teaching
• Explain class goals and procedures. • Effectively demonstrate proficiency in the procedures.
Communication
• Effectively communicate and maintain harmonious interpersonal relationships. • Report pertinent information to the Coordinator. • Document class attendance.
Research
• Exhibit knowledge of current issues related to the area of responsibility. • Cooperate in data collection of related research. • Complete professional certification after sufficient experience.
Evaluation
• Participate in evaluation of self on an ongoing basis to determine strengths and weaknesses. • Participate in constructive evaluation of other Instructors to strengthen overall program.
Professional Attributes
• Exhibit an enthusiastic, optimistic, and encouraging attitude. • Present a loud and clear speaking voice. • Display a physically fit attitude and appearance while maintaining optimal body fat. • Dress appropriately for class.
