The Director, Credit Solutions is responsible for leading a team that manages the credit risk assessment and portfolio management functions for a wide range of credit relationships. This includes developing the team of more junior associates in sales of the credit platform, vetting new deals, overseeing the due diligence process, deal structuring, and portfolio management. Partners with the Relationship Management Team, Venture Capital Relationship Managers, Credit and Risk, and other stakeholders to ensure effective delivery and negotiation of credit solutions, while maintaining credit quality and profitability targets. Develops and delivers market sector insights, and responds to changing circumstances while appropriately balancing client, team and organizational needs. Ensures controls are in place, managed and addressed and elevates and mitigates any emerging risks within their or across the business unit.

Responsibilities:
  • Credit Structuring and Underwriting and Client Relationship - Lead the sales, vetting, structuring, underwriting, and closing of credit solutions for prospects and clients. Responsible for the end-to-end deal process for the most complex deals. Engage with Relationship Management, clients/prospects, Credit Admin, Legal partners, and other internal/external stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes. Manage supporting team members and resources effectively and responsibly for execution at increasing scale. Be the trusted partner for clients.
  • Portfolio Management and Risk Management - Oversight of team's portfolio of borrowing relationships, reviewing information, evaluating risk, and engaging with clients. Build and maintain relationships with key client stakeholders to remain well-informed and able to respond to changing circumstances. Communicate internally to recommend and execute on responses to changing situations for clients across the portfolio broadly. Ensure that portfolio management practices meet bank policies, controls, risk protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Team Leadership and Development - Mentor, coach and train team members, enhancing their skills in credit acumen, loan types and sectors, financial analysis, client management and portfolio management. Manage team performance and ensure goals are understood and in alignment with activities. Lead by example in client interactions and internal collaborations, setting a high standard for professionalism and customer-centricity. Ensure that resource allocation to the portfolio and pipeline is appropriate.
  • Market and Industry Analysis - Demonstrate subject matter expertise within the team including market, sector, and competitive trends. Analyze business models, lending models, and make the group more scalable through optimizing how we conduct business and manage the portfolio
Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience in Experience in credit management, financial analysis, risk assessment, and team leadership in commercial banking or financial services, with a focus on technology or healthcare sectors Preferred Area of Experience: Experience in developing and implementing credit strategies for innovative or high-growth companies, advanced financial modeling skills OR High School Diploma or GED and 10 years of experience in Experience in credit management, financial analysis, risk assessment, and team leadership in commercial banking or financial services, with a focus on technology or healthcare sectors Preferred Area of Experience: Experience in developing and implementing credit strategies for innovative or high-growth companies, advanced financial modeling skills

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8 years of commercial banking experience underwriting 
  • Strong financial modeling/analysis, memo writing, debt structuring, negotiation, and closing skills with the ability to engage and build trust with clients independently.
  • Advanced knowledge of portfolio management practices including expertise in evaluating risk and managing changing situations.
  • Management experience - a team of underwriters. 

The base pay for this position is generally between $168,675-$224,900 per year. Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
