Minimum Required Qualifications:
• Minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience in a similar role or position in construction.
• BS/BA Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or related degree. Four years of additional qualifying experience in excess to the minimum years stated above may be substituted for the required education.
• Ability to work in a team environment and take initiative.
• Effectively manage daily work effort in a fast-paced environment.
• Good verbal and writing communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience on Educational programs/projects and Division of State Architect (DSA) projects.
• Experience in all parts of the project life cycle, including master planning, design, and closeout.
• Professional Engineer License (PE), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), or similar credentials

Position Description:
• Provide technical and engineering support to the Build-LACCD Program Management Office (PMO), including Project Managers and Construction Managers
• Coordinate with PMO staff, College Project Teams (CPTs), contractors, architects, engineers, inspectors, consultants, and College staff
• Participate in, and occasionally run, design or construction meetings
• Make field checks on construction, demolition, rehabilitation, alteration addition or repair projects to determine compliance with job specifications, plans, established College standards, and Division of the State Architect (DSA) requirements
• Read and interpret construction plans and shop drawings
• Assist in preparing written materials including correspondence, reports, procedures, and guidelines
• Support development of weekly/monthly status and photos reports for project team
• Review, estimates, negotiates, and processes construction change orders and construction field orders
• Review and enforce construction and professional services contracts
• Manage and direct contractors and outside consultants including reviewing and approving invoices
• Assess project risks and develop risk registers including mitigation strategies
• Facilitate resolution of construction and design issues
• Coordinate with Architects for timely and accurate responses to requests for information, submittals, Construction Change Documents, etc.
• Generate and distribute meeting minutes (construction meetings, design meetings, etc..)
• Confirm contractor’s maintenance of record drawings prior to monthly progress payments to the Contractor
• Maintain project files in both electronic and paper format
• Review submittals for conformance to plans and specifications
• Generate and draft Proposed Board Actions (PBAs)
• Prepare Scope of Work documents and project status reports for solicitation of consultant and contractor services.

A successful candidate for this position will be assigned to the DACM contract with the Los Angeles Community College (LACCD) Build LACCD Facilities Construction Program.
Salary: $164,000 to $167,000 per annum

This position is bond funded and is limited to work associated with capital construction, modernization, and sustainability projects. Duties performed under this position shall not include routine maintenance, repair, or operational tasks that fall within the responsibilities of facilities Maintenance & Operations (M&O). The scope of this role is exclusively tied to bond-eligible activities such as planning, design, construction, commissioning, and related project management functions necessary to deliver capital improvements consistent with LACCD’s Capital Construction Bond Program requirements.
