Job Description

An engineering firm in Northern Idaho and Eastern Washington is seeking a Survey CAD Technician to join their Sandpoint, Idaho office. This position involves working closely with surveyors, engineers, and project teams to produce high-quality deliverables that are crucial for civil engineering, land surveying, and land development projects. The role is vital for translating field data into precise drawings and supporting project execution for both private and municipal clients.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed survey drawings and construction documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Draft boundary, topographic, ALTA, and as-built surveys from field data and notes.
• Support land/site development projects by producing site plans, grading layouts, and utility layouts.
• Process and reduce survey field data, ensuring accuracy and quality control across deliverables.
• Collaborate with survey crews, engineers, and project managers to resolve discrepancies and maintain project timelines.
• Interpret construction plans, plats, easements, and legal descriptions.
• Assist with preparation of mapping, exhibits, and technical documentation for permitting and design phases.
• Maintain organized project files and adhere to company drafting standards.
• Provide general CAD support across civil engineering and land development projects.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Basic understanding of CAD drafting principles and construction/survey plan production.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data processing and drafting deliverables.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, maps, and survey data.
• Effective communication and ability to work within a team environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Prior experience supporting land surveying, civil engineering, or land/site development projects.
• Familiarity with survey workflows including boundary and topographic surveys, ALTA/NSPS surveys, and construction staking or as-built documentation.
• Exposure to survey field data collection methods, GPS/total station workflows, or point file processing.
• Associate's degree or coursework in Surveying, Civil Engineering, or CAD Drafting.

Work Environment

The position requires working five days a week in the Sandpoint, ID office. The work environment is collaborative and community-focused, offering exposure to a wide range of projects across municipal and private development. There are opportunities for growth within a multidisciplinary team that supports engineering, surveying, and land use planning projects.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sandpoint, ID.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
