Job Overview

Fairview Range is hiring a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) for Surgical Services team in Hibbing, MN.

As a Certified Surgical Technologist, you will provide perioperative care to patients under the direction of an RN, scrubs, and assist surgeons by handling instruments during procedures, maintains aseptic technique, maintains instruments and equipment for efficient functioning, and performs other duties as assigned.

Schedule: Hours as Needed. The shift length will be 8-hours on the day shift. Weekdays and weekends on call.

• 4 operating rooms
• 17 Same Day Surgery cubicles
• 6 recovery room cubicles
• Average of more than 3000 surgical procedures per year
• Multidisciplinary care team including Physicians, APPs, CRNAs, RNs, Surgical Techs, Instrument Tech/Unit Assistants
• Patient population: pediatric to geriatric

As a Surgical Technologist, you will:

• Provide direct perioperative patient care with regard to the physical, psychological, and spiritual well-being of the patient
• Participate in collaboration with RN staff in gathering data to identify patient needs and surgeons' preferences.
• Demonstrate awareness of age-specific criteria in obtaining appropriate equipment and supplies for procedures
• Assist the RN in coordinating a plan of care based on prioritized patient needs related to types of surgical procedures and surgeon preferences.
• Understand expected outcomes identified for the patient and work with the health care team in meeting these outcomes.
• Assist RN, anesthesia personnel, and the surgeon in prompt identification of charges in patient condition.
• Assist other staff members in updating information pertinent to surgical procedures and surgeon preferences on an ongoing basis.
• After hours and weekend call rotated amongst all members

Required Qualifications

• Completion of a surgical technology program or surgical technologist training
• Operating room or similar scrub experience
• Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross) within 90 Days
• Surgical Technologist Certification

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year experience as a Surgical Technologist
