Surgical Technologist who functions as a member of the surgical team to provide safe, efficient care to patients undergoing operative procedures. Prepares and organizes the operating room equipment, instruments, and supplies required for surgical procedures; sets up and maintains a sterile and sanitary environment; and assures aseptic technique is maintained by the scrubbed surgical team throughout the procedure. Anticipates surgeon and patient needs during procedures and provides surgeons and patients with necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment. Actively participates in intraoperative patient safety practices, including the surgical “time-out,” and collaborates with the RN in performing sponge, needle, and instrument counts at appropriate times. Assists with patient positioning, application of safety devices, and use of alarms to promote patient safety. Handles specimens, prepares, checks, and monitors per policy and assists with dressings as needed. Utilizes proper body mechanics when moving, transporting, and positioning patients, stretchers, and operating tables to prevent injury to patients and personnel. Inspects surgical instrumentation and utilizes proper technique to ensure equipment quality and readiness. Participates in stocking, restocking, and maintaining surgical supplies and equipment. Participates in orientation, education, and ongoing competency development of operating room staff. Maintains regular and punctual attendance; works assigned schedule and overtime as required; and performs all other duties as assigned. Rotating call required, including nights, weekends, and holidays per departmental schedule.

Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a scrub technician training course.
