Job Title: Surgical Technician
Location: Oklahoma City, OK (On Site)
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift Hours: Days | 6:30 AM 5:00 PM | 4 Days per Week
Schedule: No Call, No Weekends, No Holidays
Required Skills & Experience:
- 1+ years of Surgical tech experience required.
- Ophthalmology surgical experience required.
Required Certification:
- Surgical Technician Certification required.
Job Description:
- Provide technical assistance as a Surgical (Scrub) Technician during ophthalmology and other surgical procedures.
- Review and utilize physician preference cards to prepare operating rooms and surgical supplies.
- Prepare and maintain sterile fields by opening instruments, supplies, and equipment using proper sterile techniques.
- Perform surgical scrub procedures before patient arrival and ensure readiness of the operating room.
- Assist physicians with patient draping and preparation of the operative field.
- Anticipate surgeon needs during procedures by providing instruments, supplies, and equipment promptly.
- Obtain and verify functionality of specialized surgical equipment, including electrosurgical units, diagnostic lights, and ophthalmic surgical instruments.
- Handle and manipulate surgical instruments efficiently to support surgical workflow and patient safety.
- Monitor surgical procedures and maintain awareness of sterile technique, identifying and correcting any breaks in sterility.
- Preserve, label, and ensure accurate identification of operative specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Participate in sponge, needle, and instrument counts in collaboration with the circulating nurse.
- Clean, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies according to established protocols.
- Maintain cleanliness of operating rooms and appropriately dispose of contaminated materials and soiled linens.
- Assist in the orientation and training of Surgical Technicians as needed.
- Collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthesia providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Provide care appropriate to patients across all age groups, including neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.
- Adhere to hospital policies, safety regulations, infection control standards, and accreditation requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by department leadership
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- Experience working in an operating room environment.
- Strong knowledge of sterile technique and surgical instrumentation.
- Experience assisting surgeons during ophthalmic surgical procedures.
- Ability to maintain sterile fields and ensure patient safety throughout surgical procedures.
- Knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and infection control practices
