Our client is seeking a Surgical Scheduler to join their team on a temp-to-hire basis. They boast a great company culture and a quick interview process!

$26/hr

Position Overview:
The Surgical Scheduler is responsible for coordinating all aspects of interventional pain management procedures from scheduling through completion. They ensure accurate scheduling, insurance authorization, patient preparedness, physician communication, and protocol compliance. The Surgical Scheduler serves as the liaison between patients, providers, hospitals, surgery centers, insurance companies, and referring physicians.

Responsibilities of the Surgical Scheduler:
  • Coordinate and schedule interventional pain management procedures across office, ambulatory surgery center (ASC), and hospital settings, optimizing provider schedules and procedural workflow.
  • Serve as the primary liaison among patients, physicians, anesthesia providers, and healthcare facilities to facilitate timely procedure scheduling and completion.
  • Educate patients on pre-procedure requirements, including arrival times, medication restrictions, fasting instructions, and transportation arrangements, while documenting all communications in the EMR.
  • Verify procedure accuracy by reviewing clinical documentation, diagnosis codes, CPT/ICD-10 alignment, spinal levels, laterality, and other scheduling requirements.
  • Manage insurance eligibility verification, prior authorizations, pre-certifications, appeals, and approval tracking to ensure procedures are authorized before scheduled dates.
  • Coordinate and obtain required medical clearances, monitor outstanding requests, and communicate unresolved clinical concerns to providers.
  • Ensure all procedural records, consents, imaging, laboratory results, physician orders, and supporting documentation meet facility, payer, and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with clinical, administrative, billing, and external healthcare teams to resolve scheduling issues, communicate updates, and support efficient patient care delivery.
Required Experience/Skills for the Surgical Scheduler:
  • Knowledge of insurance verification, prior authorization, and medical terminology.
  • Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, and medical documentation requirements.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify documentation discrepancies.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong customer service and patient communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and medical scheduling software.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Surgical Scheduler:
  • 2 years of medical scheduling experience.
  • Knowledge of New Jersey and New York insurance requirements.
Education Requirements:
  • High school diploma is required.
