We are seeking a highly professional Surgery Scheduler / Front Office specialist to join our team!
The Surgery Scheduler is responsible for all tasks associated with scheduling surgeries in both inpatient and outpatient settings. This includes coordinating all aspects of the scheduling process, managing paperwork and procedure workflows, and maintaining frequent communication with surgery centers, physicians, patients, and internal staff. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent time management, and the ability to prioritize effectively. The Surgery Scheduler may also assist with planning postoperative care.

- Work Schedule: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Key Responsibilities:
- Complete insurance authorizations for scheduled surgeries and ensure procedures are booked within the allotted time
- Coordinate with hospitals and surgery centers to complete all preoperative paperwork and finalize surgery dates
- Communicate with patients to determine preferred surgery dates and confirm scheduling
- Ensure all preoperative testing and medical clearances are ordered and completed
- Schedule pre and postoperative office visits and order postop medications
- Coordinate with implant representatives to ensure proper equipment is available on the day of surgery
- Learn each physician's preferences and maintain strong working relationships
- Assist at the front desk and manage referrals as needed
Qualifications:
- Knowledge of medical terminology (anatomy, procedures, medications)
- Experience with EPIC EMR software, a plus
- Previous experience in an orthopedic setting, including surgery scheduling and authorizations, a plus
- Highly organized and motivated
- Strong ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and maintain attention to detail
- Positive attitude and team-first mentality, reliable and energetic
- Ability to adapt to change and unexpected situations
- Professional communication skills with patients, physicians, and staff
Skills and Competencies:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in a medical office environment, preferably a high volume, active practice
- Previous experience scheduling surgeries
