Required Skills:
- Valid and active Alaska medical license
- AK DEA certification in place before start date
- Proven experience in general surgery, with strong clinical skills
- Ability to work independently and handle 24-hour beeper call shifts
- Excellent decision-making and problem-solving abilities
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with hospital staff and patients
Nice to Have Skills:
- Prior experience in locum or similar temporary roles
- Familiarity with rural or community hospital settings
- Advanced certifications or specialties relevant to general surgery
Preferred Education and Experience:
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
- Board certification in general surgery or equivalent credentials
- Minimum of 3+ years of post-residency surgical practice
Other Requirements:
- Must hold an active AK medical license and AK DEA prior to start
- Commitment to 24-hour call coverage throughout the assignment
- No guaranteed hours or overtime pay — this role is strictly 24-hour call only
