o Minimum Years of Experience? 2 years
o Will you accept a first-time traveler? Further approval/evaluation from hiring supervisor. Would not recommend for first time travelers
Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:
o Neuro/ENT
Spine Surgeries: Laminectomies, ALIFs, fusions, dissections
Cranial Surgeries: Tumors, AVMs/aneurysm (not required), VP shunts, subdural, EVDs (does NOT need to know how to set up the system)
ENT: Neck dissections with flaps, sinus surgeries (Stealth Navigation), basic ENT (tonsils), tympanoplasty, cochlear (not required)
Navigation: Healthcare (cranial and spine), Healthcare Stealth (ENT), Stryker and Synaptive Navigation (cranial)
o Orthopedic
Procedures: Fractures, anterior hips, total knees, posterior hips, ortho spine (laminectomy, ALIFs, PLIFs, discectomies), hand, bone/soft tissue sarcomas, foot/ankle, total shoulders, arthroscopy (shoulder, knee, ankle, wrist)
Equipment/Tables: Hana Table, Jackson Table (open/flat top), Beach Chair (T-Max, Arthrex, Schlein)
Positioning Equipment: Stulberg hip, spider arm, hip grip, Trimano, Arthrex shoulder traction, peg board, arm boards, Acufex leg holder
Specialty Equipment: Velys robot
o General
Breasts, plastic, vascular, laparoscopic, general oncology, genitourinary (GU), gynecology (GYN), Robots (DaVinci XI)
*We do not train agency on robots unless a strong background and will be here for more than 1 contract.

Required Licensure & Certifications:
o Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) from one of the following:
National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
American Board of Surgical Assistants (ABSA)
National Commission for the Certification of Surgical Assistants (NCCSA)
o BLS
Skills required:
o See above cases
Support within the Department:
o Charge RN
o Leads
o Supervisors (AM, PM, and weekends)
o Manager
Technology/Equipment:
o EMR: EPIC
o IV Pump: Alaris
o Med dispensing: Pyxis
Floating: If yes, where and how often? Travelers float first?
o Cross trained to General Main OR specialty regardless of hiring position
o Cross trained to Urology Center
o No floating to other hospitals/sites
Orientation (facility and unit) :
o 1-1.5 weeks, depending on team and shift (subject to changed based on unit needs)
Scheduling:
o Weekend rotation: N/A
o On call? Yes
30-minute response time
8-week call schedule, subject to change based on staffing needs (could be less than suggested below)
General/Neuro:
AM/PM
EOS call: 10 slots
Weekend call: 1-2 weekends (shift depends on specialty)
Ortho:
1 day each week (Monday – Friday), EOS until 0700
1 call weekend every 5 weeks or however many ortho assists we have
o Holiday Expectations: If agency wants more information, please contract hiring supervisor. Holiday weeks, agency can work 4 10h shifts OR take the holiday unpaid
o Shift times:
Days: Variable start times, anywhere between 0530-0700
PM: Would depend on what position is being hired for (would be stated in hiring req.)
o Schedule cycle: see above
Other notes:
o Scrub Color: Surgical scrubs are provided by hospital. Scrub caps are allowed but need to be covered by a surgical bouffant
o Parking: Free parking available. Shuttle provided for teammates to/from parking structure
o Food: Starbucks and cafeteria on campus
