Supports performance/process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiencies while partnering with caregivers to enhance the quality of nursing care.Essential DutiesMaintains accurate records of clinical education activities, policies, and procedures as applicable, work instructions and other compliance-related documents, maintaining knowledge of current trends and developments in the field of clinical education and professional development.Designs, instructs and evaluates educational programs as applicableParticipates in the oversight of the preparation of clinical orientations, records, and reportsRecommends actions and follow up regarding clinical education, accreditation readiness for the hospital, and clinical practice related issues.Facilitates problem resolution and evaluates the effectiveness of services for onboarding.Create an environment that encourages teamwork and creativity in the development and delivery of all servicesParticipates in strategic planning and budgeting activities to align with ongoing NPD, nursing quality, and nursing education activitiesRecruits, selects, and retains qualified CaregiversPolicy development based on Evidence-Based PracticeUpdate protocols and integrate into web-based PPMMonitor Caregivers performance: provide orientation guidance, coaching and recognitionOversees the coordinating, developing, and revising of orientations to meet the needs of new Nursing CaregiversApproves Nursing educational modules designed for placement on the My Learning System (LMS)Represents the Clinical Education Department on designated committees and teamsLeads or assists with system wide initiatives as directedJob RequirementsGeneral Requirements• Current State of Michigan license - RNWork Experience• At least 5 years of experience working in an Emergency Department or Critical Care environment with nurses, providers and/or other allied health professionals. • Demonstrates experience in organizing the structure and resources to efficiently and effectively achieve the defined goals and objectives.• Experience with teaching to groups of all sizes• Understanding of LEAN principles as well as quality improvement initiatives• Previous preceptor experience• Demonstrated working experience with information technology in an education or healthcare setting and knowledge of clinical systems and programs. • Leadership/managerial experience or a graduate programEducation• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing• Master's Degree in Nursing and/or DNP is highly desiredSpecialized Knowledge and Skills• Advanced computer skills and proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite of products, particularly Word, Excel and Power Point. • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication skills, and an ability to manage multiple tasks in a timely, organized, confident and professional manner. • A high level of reliability and confidentiality, and the ability to effectively coordinate and prioritize multiple responsibilities.• Must be self-directed, flexible and serves as a role model for consistent demonstration of the Sparrow Hospitals Customer Service & Behavioral Standards of Performance.• An ability to educate and communicate clear expectations of the policies, processes, protocols, and accreditation standards for those learning at Sparrow.• Demonstrates knowledge and respects patient rights, organizational confidentiality, HIPAA Security procedures & protocols as defined under the HIPAA Privacy and Security ProceduresUniversity of Michigan Health - Sparrow is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
