Support Specialist – Employee Benefits, Individual L&H
Location:  Onalaska, WI

 

At Alera Group, our Employee Benefits team helps employers design, implement, and support programs that care for people and strengthen organizations. We’re seeking a Support Specialist who will help maintain and strengthen client relationships through responsive service, proactive follow-up and client education.

This role will work with our Individual Life & Health team, and focus on identifying and resolving issues quickly, coordinating with carriers and internal team and supporting renewal and enrollment activities to promote satisfaction, continuity of coverage and long-term client retention.

Responsibilities:

 

What You’ll Do / Your Impact

Client System Support Implementations

  • Conduct client education and enrollment activities
  • Interpret annual plan changes for health insurance and Medicare; assist clients with enrollment as needed
  • Provide claims assistance and support issue resolution for clients

Liaison & Issue Resolution

  • Serve as a liaison between clients, prospects, carriers, and internal teams
  • Respond to client inquiries and troubleshoot issues
  • Coordinate follow-up across multiple carrier partners

Operational Excellence

  • Read and interpret insurance policies, coverage documents, and regulations
  • Prepare reports, correspondence, and benefit-related documentation
  • Maintain accuracy and attention to detail in all client records
  • Support reporting activities and ensure consistent documentation practices

Strategic Contribution

  • Support assigned projects, including managing lead lists
  • Assist with marketing initiatives and outreach efforts
  • Contribute to client retention through proactive service and follow-up

 

Qualifications:

 

What You Bring

Required

  • 2–3 years of related experience in client service, insurance, or benefits administration (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to explain complex benefit information in a clear, simple manner
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and high call/email volume

Preferred

  • Associate degree preferred
  • Insurance agency or sales support experience
  • Knowledge of insurance terminology, forms, and processes
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), AgencyBloc, and CRM systems
