This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Patrick B. Harris Psychiatric Hospital, 130 SC-252, Anderson, SC 29621.

As the Supply Specialist III, working under general supervision, you will manage the receiving, distribution, storing, and inventory of materials, supplies, and equipment for HPH. Responsible for requisitioning supplies and services, disposal of surplus properties, warehouse security and equipment maintenance.

Responsibilities for the Supply Specialist III include:

  • Responsible for all aspects of warehouse operations for the facility. Process request for supplies and services from a central warehouse and from outside vendors entering into SCEIS system. Verify accounting documentation. Issue and deliver requested items to hospital staff according to established procedures. Verify items delivered against orders placed. Enter delivery information and charge issued items to various departmental accounts using SCEIS.
  • Work directly with vendors to purchase authorized non-stock items by Purchase Order. Assure that all purchases are in accordance with the Consolidate Procurement Code, and that necessary paperwork is obtained to substantiate purchases.
  • Purchase supply items which are paid for by the credit card. Verify that all items received are correct, complete, and that charges are as agreed upon. Monitor spending levels to assure the authorized amount is not exceeded.
  • Continually monitor equipment and supply levels and is responsible for periodic inventory and the preparation of annual inventory reports. Consult with administrative and department heads to determine adequacy of services and inventory levels. Enter inventory information into SCEIS. Supervise and inspect supply storage area for cleanliness, space utilization, security, and compliance with fire and safety standards.
  • Receive incoming supplies and equipment an verify against purchasing documents. Inspect deliveries to ensure compliance with specifications and accuracy of packing documents. Monitor quality and quantity of items received.
  • Assist in decaling new property and equipment, maintaining detailed inventory records of current fixed and movable equipment and furniture as needed. Responsible for relocation of all equipment.
  • Maintain competency by mastering requirement mandatory and non-mandatory in-service training, including MANDTS/MAPS and SCEIS Modules.
  • Routinely delivery medical records to central location for storage. Purchase requested supply items locally as needed.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

  • A high school diploma and work experience directly related to the area of employment.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must possess a valid SC Drivers License, and be able to drive a forklift/tractor, and a cargo van.
  • Must be able to repetitively lift 50 pounds daily.
  • Must be able to push, pull, bend, and stoop frequently.
  • Must maintain a neat and orderly work environment.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
  • A high school diploma and two years work experience directly related to the area of employment.

Additional Comments

Post hire, employees must:

  • Have good communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills and accurate record keeping ability.
  • Be familiar with methods of procurement, materials and management of inventory control.
