Position Summary

The position coordinates closely with site, division, and group teams and provides site-level procurement leadership in accordance with company policies, processes, and direction. This role plans, coordinates, and directs a variety of complex strategic and tactical procurement and material processes from initial supplier proposals through product delivery, ensuring objectives are met in supply chain quality, delivery, cost, and inventory goals. The role ensures all procurement activities comply with government laws (domestic/international), regulations, and management objectives. As part of the Senior Leadership Team for the site, this position reports to the Business Unit Manager and will have direct reports.

Responsibilities

  • Determine annual targets and objectives for procurement performance, cost savings, and other KPIs, including associated execution plans in conjunction with site, division, and group business and functional leadership.
  • Lead and supervise day-to-day procurement activities for the site. Work with the site operations team to conduct and optimize inventory management and SIOP. Ensure proper order placement and expedite deliveries to support site manufacturing needs.
  • Support Site Operations Lead in meeting site business objectives; lead functional DLA and support other site DLAs as appropriate, performing Pareto-based gap analysis and defining actions to support performance and/or recovery; drive functional MPS.
  • Source new products and support new product introduction activities in line with company policies, processes, and strategy, including sourcing, cost targeting and realization, contracting, gate review activities and support, customer requirement flow downs, risk management, and other critical NPI and PLM actions.
  • Manage risk within the supply chain and monitor procurement procedures to comply with government laws (domestic/international), regulations, and company policy.
  • Provide input to the development of commodity strategies and execute strategies aligned with agreed-upon site and/or group requirements.
  • In conjunction with division and group functional teams, develop and deploy procurement processes and practices to drive continuous improvement in site activities.
  • Lead and direct work for a team of employees as defined by business needs.
  • Manage staff selections, performance, development, retention, and training processes to ensure team competencies and capabilities to reach business goals and expectations.
  • Utilize best practices and lean techniques to identify, develop, and implement strategy, policy, processes, tools, metrics, action plans, and countermeasures as required to deliver inventory, supplier performance, total cost (including low-cost region sourcing and work transfer management), and other KPIs.
  • Design, implement, and manage supplier inventory programs along with appropriate system parameter maintenance required to meet material flow requirements.
  • In conjunction with division and group, lead and support supplier development and performance management efforts to ensure supply base performance, including supplier scorecards, corrective actions, supplier reviews, penalties, and other key supplier engagement activities.
  • Lead supplier contract negotiation in conjunction with site, division, and group strategies, ensuring effective supplier commercial relationships fully meet business, risk, working capital (inventory and payment terms/processes), risk, and other objectives.
  • Perform other duties as required within the job holder's capability consistent with the terms and conditions of employment.
  • Ensure compliance with government laws and regulations and company policies and processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (required) in supply chain or related field; analytical degree (i.e., Math/Engineering) preferred.
  • 7-10 years of procurement experience; aerospace background highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated capability/experience in an operations procurement leadership role.
  • Experience with electronic material buying.
  • Practical and applied knowledge of aerospace sourcing, purchasing, and overall procurement processes, systems, and practices.
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts and techniques with significant exposure to supplier inventory programs such as kanban and consignment.
  • Proven ability to drive change and continuously improve processes for effectiveness in procurement cost, quality, and delivery across a site.
  • Ability to accurately assess key business metrics and situations.
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and develop team members.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and prioritize in a rapidly changing and demanding environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead and motivate teams as well as communicate effectively across all levels both internally and externally with suppliers and customers in a timely and effective manner.
  • Outstanding spreadsheet utilization skills along with proficiency in word processing and presentation.
  • Ability to understand and interpret blueprints and engineering specifications is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with a commercial aviation environment dealing with FAR regulations.
  • Ability and willingness to travel (domestic/international).
