Own the last mile volume plan that shapes how millions of heavy and bulky packages reach customers" doors each year. You"ll lead quarterly planning cycles that directly impact customer experience, delivery speed, and cost efficiency across North America.

Amazon Extra Large (AMXL) delivers large, heavy, and bulky products with special handling services like Room of Choice delivery, Haul-Away, and Installation. As a Supply Chain Manager on the Long Range Planning team, you"ll build full year volume plans, partner with finance and operations teams, and drive data-driven decisions that optimize our delivery network from current quarter through year end.

You"ll communicate in verbal and written form to senior stakeholders, solve ambiguous problems with a data-oriented approach, and identify gaps with innovative solutions that improve customer experience, reduce cost, and help create a best-in-class delivery network.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead the North America AMXL Last Mile volume plan from current quarter through end of year
  • Build and maintain site and package level attainment plans that determine delivered volume, carrier mix, service volume, and route density
  • Collect, validate, and model inputs to build full year volume flows within network constraints
  • Drive leadership alignment to lock challenging yet achievable quarterly targets and gain approval of the optimal plan
  • Own the data and communication handoff to carrier planning and finance teams for quarterly cycles
  • Build, maintain, and improve planning models in partnership with data science and analytics teams
  • Develop data-driven tracking mechanisms to monitor plans against performance and trends over time
  • Analyze plan variances to identify root causes and develop bridges that explain key metric changes
  • Invent and simplify planning mechanisms to streamline integration across short-, mid-, and long-term planning horizons
  • Drive continuous improvement through process automation and scalable mechanisms
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure aligned plans across the end-to-end supply chain

A day in the life

You"ll lead North America AMXL Last Mile quarterly volume plans, partnering with finance, operations, carrier planning, network design, and data science teams. Your plans ensure integration between short-term execution and long-term strategy, and you"ll develop bridges that explain key metric changes from plan to plan.

You"ll analyze data to optimize existing strategies and identify opportunities to improve delivery network performance. When new information surfaces, you"ll dive deep and present optimal solutions to leadership based on your data-driven supply chain modeling. Success in this role directly impacts customers by optimizing the journey from warehouse to doorstep for Amazon"s heavy and bulky products.

About the Company

A

Amazon.com Inc

At Amazon, we don’t wait for the next big idea to present itself. We envision the shape of impossible things and then we boldly make them reality. So far, this mindset has helped us achieve some incredible things. Let’s build new systems, challenge the status quo, and design the world we want to live in. We believe the work you do here will be the best work of your life.

Wherever you are in your career exploration, Amazon likely has an opportunity for you. Our research scientists and engineers shape the future of natural language understanding with Alexa. Fulfillment center associates around the globe send customer orders from our warehouses to doorsteps. Product managers set feature requirements, strategy, and marketing messages for brand new customer experiences. And as we grow, we’ll add jobs that haven’t been invented yet.

It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
