OverviewThe Supplier Quality / Materials Engineer serves as the technical liaison between Lam product groups, manufacturing, supply chain, and ceramic suppliers. This role supports supplier development and performance from New Product Introduction (NPI) through High Volume Manufacturing (HVM), driving quality, process capability, and continuous improvement.Key Responsibilities- Act as the primary technical interface between internal teams and ceramic suppliers across NPI to HVM
- Lead supplier development, qualification, and readiness activities, including Process of Record (POR), process capability, and change control compliance
- Drive supplier quality issue resolution, including containment, root cause, and corrective actions (RCCA) using structured methodologies (8D, PSDMP, FMEA, 5 Whys)
- Plan and execute supplier audits covering manufacturing processes and Quality Management Systems (QMS)
- Apply statistical and quality engineering tools (SPC, DOE, MSA, Lean/Six Sigma) to monitor and improve supplier performance
- Identify risks and communicate technical findings and recommendations to cross-functional and executive stakeholders
Required Qualifications- Master’s degree in Ceramics, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in supplier engineering, manufacturing, process engineering, or quality engineering
- Strong analytical, project management, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively across global, cross-functional teams
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (15–25%)
Preferred Qualifications- PhD in Ceramics, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field
- Experience with ceramic materials and manufacturing processes (forming, sintering, machining, grinding, polishing, surface treatment)
- Experience with material characterization techniques (SEM/EDS, XRD)
- Proficiency with statistical tools such as JMP or Minitab
- Japanese language skills are a plus
