Supplier Quality Engineer – Job Description (hybrid)
Kingston, NY area

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement supplier quality strategies aligned with global policies and industry best practices
  • Improve supplier qualification processes, including Supplier Quality Assurance Manual (SQAM), audits, first article inspection, and incoming inspection criteria
  • Partner with manufacturing, engineering, sourcing, and quality teams to resolve supplier quality issues and support ongoing initiatives (e.g., conflict minerals, PFAS)
  • Analyze supplier performance data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement
  • Manage Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCAR) and support RMA activities with Quality Assurance
  • Conduct root cause analysis and ensure effective corrective and preventive actions
  • Perform supplier audits and assess process validations to ensure compliance with specifications
  • Maintain and drive supplier scorecard programs and support cost-of-quality reduction initiatives
  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks impacting quality and delivery
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure supplier requirements are clearly defined and met
  • Support domestic and international travel (30–40%)

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Control, or Supplier Quality within a manufacturing environment (e.g., assembly, machining, welding, casting, controls)
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and TS16949 standards
  • Experience with PFMEA, 6S, SPC, and Gage R&R preferred
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work across all organizational levels
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage shifting priorities
  • Background check and drug test are required
  • Salary range, $90k to $100k
