You will be responsible for ensuring suppliers can produce precision structural components that meet our rigorous quality standards. Your work will play a vital role in the launch and sustained production of highly complex bipedal humanoids.You WillPartner with engineering and sourcing teams to select suppliers based on capabilities in castings, machining, and structural assemblySource and qualify vendors for castings, extrusions, machined parts, and sheet metalValidate surface treatments, welding, heat treatments, and coating processesReview GD&T on complex structural components and verify with metrology toolsCollaborate on lightweighting initiatives and design optimizationsLead the supplier industrialization process from design through production ramp‑upSupport suppliers with tooling, equipment, and process qualificationsAssess supplier readiness for vehicle builds and manage production riskDrive the APQP process and support PPAP through the start of productionTrain suppliers on 1X's quality systems and review part quality documentationLead root cause and corrective action efforts for supplier quality issuesMonitor and report supplier quality metrics to ensure ongoing improvementApply lean and quality tools to drive continuous improvement across the supply baseTravel up to 40%, domestically and internationally, sometimes on short noticeBachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or a related engineering field6+ years of experience in quality, supplier quality, or manufacturing—ideally in automotive, aerospace, or medical devicesHands‑on experience launching new products and improving quality systemsSkilled in problem‑solving methods like Six Sigma, 8D, and root cause analysisProficiency with quality tools such as FMEAs, control plans, SPC, MSA, and capability studiesUnderstanding of manufacturing processes related to electronics, batteries, and precision sensorsStrong experience with supplier audits, APQP, PPAP, and production ramp‑upsAbility to read engineering drawings and use GD&T; knowledge of ISO 9000 and IATF 16949 quality systemsCertifications like CQE, Six Sigma Green Belt, or Quality Auditor are a plusExperience with tooling and fixture validation is a plusProficiency in Microsoft Office; Google Workspace experience is a plusBenefits & CompensationSalary Range: $133,000 – $195,000Health, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with company matchPaid time off and holidaysEqual Opportunity Employer1X is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
