JOB SUMMARY

The Supervisor Wellness is responsible for assisting with wellness operations of both wellness facilities. This position will report to the Director of Wellness. Participates in long range planning and establishing department goals. The position will supervise the daily operations of both wellness facilities and assist with staffing shifts. They are ultimately responsible for ensuring adequate staffing at both wellness facilities. Supervisor Wellness assists with recruitment, competency evaluations, disciplinary action, and coaching of all assigned staff and helps resolve all customer service issues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation within areas as assigned.
  • Assist the management team with front desk operations for both wellness facilities to ensure that service meets or exceeds industry standards and customer expectations.
  • Assist management with evaluation and discipline of all staff
  • Adjust personal schedule to meet needs and coverage of department for wellness operations
  • Orients, trains, and recognizes staff, volunteers, and project search team. Trains all team members and volunteers by reviewing policies and procedures
  • Assist management with development and implementation of new and existing wellness programs and services that are both profitable and of interest to current or potential members. Conducts studies of feasible facility and service expansions
  • Assist with recruitment and training efforts for the department (hiring, on boarding, training, mandatory compliance and performance evaluation)
  • Actively assist and supports departmental activities to ensure that operational expenses are equal to or less than approved budget
  • Ensures all licenses and operating permits, including pool, spa, and massage are current and that we are compliant with all city, county, and state requirements.
  • Assists with facility supplies including ordering, stocking and managing inventory.
  • Enforces policies and procedures for safe fitness center environment and staffing
  • Supervises daily center operations to ensure professional programs and services that meet or exceed industry standards in a safe and secure environment.
  • Looks for opportunities and solutions for process improvements and seeks to improve job skills.
  • Assists with marketing efforts including but not limited to social media
  • Assist wellness center team with facility tours, new member orientations, and floor / front desk coverage
  • Supervisor Wellness will be the first to pick up needed coverage for shifts

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of bachelor's degree required from an accredited university. Preferrable in exercise science or health promotion field. Further education/experience in business desirable
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in Health and Wellness industry required and 1 year of supervisory capacity experience strongly encouraged.
  • Certified health/fitness certification through a nationally recognized organization preferred
  • CPR, AED certification required upon hire. Within 90 days must complete CPR, AED, and First Aid through American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Broad knowledge of current guidelines in health, fitness, wellness
  • Working knowledge of design, biomechanics, and applications of various equipment
  • Understands the working relationship within a hospital-based wellness center and preventative exercise and rehabilitation exercise
