Job Duties:

  • Trade Compliance Operations - Supervise the Trade Compliance internal department operations in accordance with company policies and procedures. Create reports to measure effectiveness of trade compliance programs. Develop, perform analysis on and maintain departmental risk and productivity metrics to identify areas for reduction of risk and process improvement; including processes involving classifications, restricted party screening, export commodity classifications, post entry reviews, protests, CF28 and CF29's, reconciliation, and all submissions to the Bureau of Industry and Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, or other government agencies. Advise the Manager of Trade Compliance of any area of risk. Initiate and participate in Process Improvement Projects with the goal of reducing trade compliance risk for the company and making the department more efficient. Monitor the services of Customs Brokers and oversight of Export Agents to ensure compliance with company policy and any applicable government laws or regulations. Support Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT). Administrator of the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE). Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Policies and Procedures - Develop policy and procedures compliant with import/export laws and regulations. Continually update and publish changes as they occur. Maintain and periodically review International Standardization Organization (ISO) procedures. Aid in development, monitor and maintain cross functional and interdepartmental policies and procedures as they relate to compliance and as regulatory changes occur.
  • Education - Based on statistical analysis identify areas of risk and education need. Develop and implement customized import and export compliance education programs for internal and external partners of the corporation based on assessed risk. Address specific areas of educational need throughout the corporation for current and newly hired employees. Participate in compliance associations and attend conferences relevant to job.
  • Employee Development - Perform duties such as creating/revising job descriptions, conducting Talent Development discussion sessions, rating performance, establishing/tracking goals and completing annual wage reviews. Responsible for coaching, motivating, mentoring, and developing direct reports to successfully take on additional responsibilities. Assist in hiring candidates for Trade department.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years related experience

  • Associate Degree (Business)

  • Non-degree considered if 6+ years of related experience along with a high school diploma or GED

  • Frequent travel (6-20%) & Frequent overnight stays (6-20%)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Import Brokers License.
  • Professional certificates in Supply Management, International Business, and or Trade Compliance will be considered in lieu of a formal college degree.
  • Advanced proficency in spreadsheet applications, presentations, and word processing programs.
  • Good interpersonal skills, professionalism, and the ability to supervise.
  • Possess the ability to organize conferences, speak in front of a group and provide education on various topics.
  • Be able to work as a contributing team member on cross functional and multi national teams
