Job Specifications

This position supports the daily management and smooth operation of a major public swimming pool complex, helping ensure a safe, engaging, and well-maintained aquatic environment for the community.

What you'll do:

  • Manage daily operations of the aquatic facility, ensuring safety, cleanliness, and customer satisfaction.
  • Directly supervise a seasonal team of 15\u201360 part-time staff, including lifeguards, instructors, and support personnel.
  • Plan and oversee routine maintenance activities such as cleaning, water quality control, and equipment checks (e.g., backwashing filters).
  • Organize and lead staff training and in-service sessions focused on fitness, safety, and emergency response preparedness.
  • Coordinate and supervise swim meets, special events, and community programs.
  • Handle administrative duties including staff scheduling, payroll processing, financial reporting, and record keeping.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for public relations and customer service, fostering a welcoming and professional atmosphere.
  • Ensure compliance with all local and state regulations governing aquatic facilities and personnel.

Minimum Training & Experience

Possession of a bachelor's degree in leisure services, recreation, or physical education and one year of professional experience that includes either the operation and maintenance of swimming pool facilities, recreation programming, teaching physical education, coaching, recreation administration or a closely related area; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Necessary Special Requirements

Must obtain CPR/PR Instructor, and First Aid Instructor, and Water Safety Instructor or equivalent learn-to-swim instructor, and Pool Operator and Lifeguard Training Instructor certificates within one year of appointment, as a condition of continued employment.

Salary Range

$24.1863 to $65.6314/hourly. Hiring rate generally will not exceed $43.0927/hour

Driver's License Requirements

Must possess a valid Class-E State driver's license at the time of appointment.
