PRIMARY PURPOSE: Under general supervision of Director, Transportation Department or his designee, coordinates special education transportation programs in public school system to transport students with mental or physical disabilities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
Possess or must obtain within 6 months of employment: CDL Class B License with passenger and air brake endorsement. TEA Bus Driver Certification.
Must be certified as paraprofessional by the State Board of Educator Certification.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Work is performed in an office environment where there is climate control, sufficient lighting and low noise level. Occasionally, incumbent will be required to ride bus routes with special program drivers to evaluate program. Conditions will vary but will be in controlled environment.
