GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Security Supervisor is responsible for supervising, assigning, and evaluating the activities of personnel under his/her span of authority. The Supervisor must ensure that all personnel adhere to all department and Henry Ford Health policies, procedures, and accepted security practices. Completes all assigned work in a timely and efficient manner. When necessary, performs duties of a Security/Security Police Officer, to include answering call for service, writing detailed reports, and providing basic medical assistance to persons on Henry Ford Health properties. Ensure shift personnel utilize excellent customer service skills, providing a personal example. Completes all other duties and projects as assigned by their site Manager and the Director of Security.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- An Associate's degree in administration, Criminal Justice, or related field and 2-3 years progressively responsible hospital security experience with at least 1 year in leadership role.
- OR 5 to 7 years of progressive responsible hospital security experience, including at least 1 to 3 years in a Leadership, Leader, Field Training Officer, Acting Supervisor, or equivalent role.
- Work requires the knowledge of and/or the ability to learn electronic equipment, media, and/or other related software and equipment.
- Work requires knowledge of the management styles and philosophy of this department, with the ability to implement it.
- Work requires excellent verbal and written skills necessary to effectively interact and communicate with assigned personnel and people of varying educational levels, including patients, visitors, employees, and physicians. Documentation is expected to be thorough and accurate.
- Work requires interpersonal skills that key in on quality customer service initiatives along with the leadership skills necessary to supervise assigned personnel.
- Work requires the ability to conduct thorough timely investigations and compose complete detailed reports of various types.
- Work requires the analytical ability necessary to assist in budget preparation, determining work force requirements and cost/benefits studies regarding various services and programs.
- Ability to prepare and present concise and timely reports to all levels of Henry Ford Health management.
- Recommendations and reports to all levels of Henry Ford Health management and medical staff.
- Must possess the ability to make persuasive presentations to large groups regarding personal safety matters, including statements to the media.
- Must possess ability to make critical decisions during life threatening/crisis situations
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:
- Work requires the certification under Public Act 330 within the first year of filling this position or at the first certification class offered in the tri-county area.
- Valid, unexpired Concealed Pistol License (CPL) required.
- Maintain a valid, unexpired Michigan operator's license with a valid and insurable driving record, required.
