As a Production Supervisor you will provide leadership, supervision, and a work environment that encourages teamwork, continuous improvement and employee engagement, while directing production operations of your assigned department according to prescribed schedules, priorities, operation sequence and processing specifications for the fabrication and assembly of cranes. Reporting to the Production Manager, this position is located in Port Washington, WI.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Manage, monitor and control departmental budgets and goals related to operational cost, quality, safety, productivity, and housekeeping.
  • Responsible for communicating policies and procedures to employees and for the consistent enforcement of those policies and procedures
  • Train employees in assigned areas. Develop employees assigned to department by cross training and providing additional external/internal opportunities
  • Responsible to effectively and consistently handle employee complaints and other personnel related issues
  • Responsible for coordination and management of personnel and material to efficiently meet the production schedule and through put requirements.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and safe operation of all equipment and machinery in areas of responsibility
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of quality and through put process improvements
  • Responsible for prompt and effective communication to management any production or non-production related issues or problems
  • Responsible for providing a safe work environment and for the development and implementation of Company Safety Programs and initiatives.
  • Responsible for meeting all goals set by manager in yearly goals and objectives

JOB REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Associate degree with a minimum of 1-year supervisory experience from a manufacturing environment or a High School Degree with at least 3 years' supervisory experience from a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts such as JIT, Kanban, SMED, PokaYoke, etc. preferred.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing methods and techniques including machine operations i.e.: brakes, lasers, CNC, and welding, quality control systems (TQM, 8D problem solving, Six Sigma, etc.), and ERP systems preferred.
  • Must be proficient in the use of a computer with experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
  • Must have a working knowledge of production planning methods.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and be able to effectively communicate with peers, direct reports, upper management, and internal and external customers.
  • This position will be located in a normal heavy manufacturing environment with potential exposure to high noise levels and hazardous materials. Will be required to stand for long periods of time and walk approximately two to five miles daily.
  • Travel may be required up to 5% of the time or less, based on business conditions.
  • Must be willing to work second shift.
