Performs supervisory work with Adaptive Inclusive Recreation Programs in the Parks and Recreation Division overseeing specialized functional area in park facilities, park programs, activities, and associated special events.

Essential Functions

  • Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.

  • Supervises and directs staff in day-to-day operations of assigned functional area; creates staff schedules, coordinates job assignments, and manages workloads; trains and evaluates staff engaged in administrative operations, park maintenance, and recreational programs; prepares employee goals and tasks; approves staff schedules; completes payroll.

  • Monitors the daily operations of parks and facilities including safety, maintenance, and security to ensure functional areas are operating efficiently while meeting the highest standard; inspects facilities, parks, athletic fields, and playgrounds for compliance with specific standards for maintenance, safety, and security; detects and corrects issues; conducts safety inspections.

  • Provides customer service; answers customer inquiries and comments; evaluates effectiveness of customer service.

  • Oversees the planning, development, and implementation of parks programs; advertises and promotes programs.

  • Plans, develops, and implements program and service improvements; collects input and feedback from customers.

  • Registers patrons for program activities; obtains required documentation as applicable; evaluates effectiveness of recreation programs and staff; reviews program participation records, surveys, and evaluation forms; makes recommendations concerning new programs or program changes; implements changes or improvements as needed.

  • Prepares, analyzes, adjusts, and monitors budgets; monitors income and expenses to ensure adherence to budgets (revenue and expense).

  • Makes site inspections and ensures compliance with rules, safety policies, equipment inspection and related regulations.

As assigned to Special Populations:

  • Supervises the development and implementation of a comprehensive special populations recreation and leisure plan which includes a variety of programs and services for participants geared for participants with disabilities serving an array of exceptionalities and age groups.

  • Develop and implement accommodations where appropriate to ensure participant success, safety, and enjoyment; locates and contracts with instructors for specialized classes.

  • Provides information/advice to families seeking inclusion in programs; assesses individuals with disabilities for participation and proper placement in programs/activities; serves as initial contact for inclusion/special needs referrals; interacts with program participants and families.

  • Responsible for the Special Needs facility, equipment, and supplies to ensure that all internal control measures are met.

  • Supervises use of the Special Population facility to ensure reasonable participant safety and that the facility is in good repair; monitors the submission and completion of Facilities Management

  • Work Order repairs and Parks Maintenance Work Order repairs.

  • Writes, presents, and administers grants for funding to supplement and enhance the quality of programs offered.

  • Speaks to numerous civic groups regarding programs offered, recruits volunteers, and requests donations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Three (3) years of related experience.
  • Fingerprinting required.

LICENSES/CERTIFICATES

  • May require additional licenses/certificates based on area of assignment.
  • Must possess and maintain CPR/AED/First Aid certification.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License with any applicable endorsement(s) to drive a County vehicle as provided in CMA 5805.

  • Salary offers above the minimum pay grade may be considered based on qualifications.
  • Essential Employees may be required to work during an undeclared or declared emergency. The County's Administrative Office will determine who will be required to work on an incident-by-incident basis.
