Salary: $100,804.07 per year (subject to increase effective July 1, 2026)
TITLE: Supervisor of Nursing Services, R.N., BSN
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Certification R.N.
- Bachelor's degree in nursing or related health or science field required; master's degree in nursing or related health or science field strongly preferred
REPORTS TO: Assistant Director of Student Services
SUPERVISES: All RN's and LPNs employed by school district
JOB GOAL: To supervise and manage all aspects of the school health program.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervises all RN's and LPNs employed by the school district.
- Knowledgeable of requirements and best practices in school nursing and school health care.
- Collaborates with the School BasedHealth Centers and Health Education departments.
- Provides, manages and correlates health services for the school system in conjunction with the Medical Advisor.
- Reviews, develops and recommends procedures.
- Manages staffing assignments.
- Plans and implements orientation for all new nurses and substitute nurses.
- Maintains superior standards for school nursing services.
- Evaluates staff performance.
- Evaluates program effectiveness.
- Arranges professional development activities to meet the staff development needs of the nurses.
- Assists staff in meeting their own educational goals.
- Arranges for nurses to engage in community health services as needed.
- Interprets school health needs and programs to school personnel and the community.
- Assists student nurses in obtaining a meaningful educational experience.
- Participates in planning and reviewing new or renovated health facilities.
- Plans and administrate budget for school health services.
- Creates and oversees system for substitute services when nurse/s are out.
- Provides supervisor with periodic reports.
- Communicates with the Town Health Director as appropriate.
- Communicates with parents as needed.
- Attends PPTs and 504 meetings as needed.
- Maintains an ongoing relationship with parents of medically fragile children.
- Recommends special transportation requests.
- Oversees homebound tutoring and maintains district 504 records.
- Coordinates data collection for State Immunization Survey; documents same.
- Provides training to all new employees and updates all current employees annually for OSHA standards.
- Assumes such other functions as may be determined by the Pupil Personnel Director or Superintendent of Schools.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 205 days, Non-Bargaining Unit
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy for Supervisors.
