  • Ensures compliance with radiation safety standards, ALARA principles, radiopharmaceutical ordering/handling, storage, administration documentation, and disposal requirements per policy.
  • Coordinates protocol updates (e.g., camera protocols, attenuation correction, gating, stress agent selection) with the nuclear medicine/cardiology medical director and physics/radiation safety resources as applicable.
  • Supports staff competency and quality control for equipment (e.g., daily/weekly QC) and image acquisition/reconstruction standards.

Non-Invasive Vascular Testing Oversight

  • Oversees vascular testing services (e.g., ABI/PVR, carotid duplex, venous duplex, arterial duplex, and other studies offered by the department) in alignment with medical director guidance and lab accreditation standards as applicable.
  • Ensures appropriate patient preparation, study completeness, accurate measurements, and documentation to support interpretation and clinical decision-making.
  • Coordinates equipment quality assurance, probe care, and optimization of exam protocols to maintain consistent diagnostic quality.

Nursing Oversight

  • Provides supervisory oversight for assigned nursing staff supporting stress testing and non-invasive procedures, including pre-procedure assessment, medication reconciliation, patient education, IV starts, monitoring, and recovery.
  • Ensures nursing practice aligns with organizational policies, state board of nursing requirements, and clinical standards for moderate-risk diagnostic testing environments.
  • Supports medication management processes (e.g., storage, labeling, checks, controlled access as applicable), and ensures accurate documentation in the medical record.
  • Facilitates interdisciplinary coordination with cardiologists, advanced practice providers, anesthesia/sedation resources (if applicable), emergency response teams, and referring offices.

  • Prepares for and supports inspections, audits, and accreditation activities (e.g., laboratory accreditation and payer requirements as applicable), including policy maintenance, staff education, and corrective action plans.
