Job Description:
Responsible for supervising day-to-day courier operations. This position schedules, trains staff, coordinates with third-party vendors, and maintains vehicles. Additionally, this role reviews data on pickups and projections of courier work and costs. In addition, this position plans, implements, and reviews courier routes, and performs laboratory courier duties as necessary. This role ensures adherence to compliance plans and regulations of local, state, and federal agencies. Actively participates in customer service and maintains respectful relationships.
- Communicates effectively with administrators to create an atmosphere of cooperation and provides prompt resolution to customer-service issues within guidelines.
- Adheres to the Compliance Plan and regulatory authority rules, protecting patient information confidentiality at all times.
- Properly follows safety policies.
- Provides quality indicators and responds quickly to issues identified by clients and department managers.
- Ensures hospital vehicles are operated within state laws and organizational policies, and maintained for cost effectiveness and productivity.
- Safely arranges transportation of biological specimens, equipment, supplies, reports, and related paperwork according to schedule and department expectations. Supervises staff and coordinates various activities to facilitate laboratory operations, including scheduling, dispatch, and coordination of external couriers.
- Fills in as a courier in emergency situations. Implements and oversees staff training programs.
- Develops and manages the functionality and service of the electronic tracking system.
- Performs other duties as assigned to ensure smooth department operations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to work well as part of a team and to supervise staff. [Required]
- Skills and aptitude related to operating motorized vehicles safely. [Required]
- Ability to maintain schedule under time constraints. [Required]
- Ability to organize and coordinate multiple courier routes. [Required]
- Good oral and written communication skills including relationship building and customer service skills. [Required]
- Reading skills in English, text and numbers, with ability to comprehend, measure, reason, match and problem solve. [Required]
- Ability to use computer-related applications and programs, including using electronic keyboards and other peripheral devices. [Required]
- Good/mature judgment, critical thinking skills, and problem-solving techniques to optimize and improve department productivity, cost containment, and staff management options. [Required]
- Ability to handle confidential information within guidelines and applicable regulations. [Required]
- Ability to handle infectious biological specimens, caustics, toxic chemicals and/or irritants appropriately and safely. [Required]
Work Experience:
- 2+ in a courier/logistics department or related [Required]
- 2+ in supervision or management [Preferred]
Licenses and Certifications:
- Driver's License (DL [Required]
