Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Supervisor, Recreational Therapy.
In this role, the successful candidate Coordinates activities and supervises staff providing recreation therapy, child life and/or creative arts therapies. Develops and coordinates in-service continuing education programs and assists with new program development and implementation. Administers therapy care and monitors the treatment and progress of patients
Job Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates continued proficiency in skills required to treat assigned patient population.
- Assists Director with developing short and long term strategic plans for department; coordinates activities in the Therapeutic Recreation, Child Life & Creative Arts Therapies department.
- Supervises, trains, and orients professional staff; assigns, supervises and coordinates the activities of the therapists; ensures effective administration of departmental and hospital policies.
- Develops and coordinates in-service continuing education program for staff within and outside the department.
- Administers therapy care; provides therapy evaluation; assesses patients mental and psychosocial needs, and provides treatment to effect improvement in physical, mental and social well- being of patients and promoting functional independence. Monitors the treatment and progress of patients.
- Assists with new program development and implementation; collaborates with other program areas (e.g., FACES, Nursing, etc.) to incorporate interdisciplinary team in patient programming and staff education.
- Assists with the development of performance improvement, patient satisfaction and outcomes measurement initiatives throughout the department; prepares related reports.
- Works with Director and Development Department to support donor relations activities.
- Participates in departmental and hospital- wide committees and work groups. Participates in projects, activities and continuing education to maintain professional competency.
- Performs other related assignments as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Child Life or Creative Arts Therapies, and 5 years relevant experience; certification/licensure in related field required. C.P.R. and First Aid certification required at hire or within one year.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master's Degree in related field preferred

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $67,771.14 - $106,742 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
