Overview

Responsible for recruiting, supervision, training and evaluation of coders. Manages workflow processes and personnel to accomplish the timely and compliant coding of hospital medical records/accounts. Participates in special projects.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) AHIMA Certified ICD-10-CM/PCS Trainer preferred

Minimum of five (5) years of experience in hospital inpatient and/or outpatient medical record coding and reimbursement One (1) year of prior supervisory experience preferred Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of stated requirements

Proficiency with Microsoft Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Ability to work nights and weekends, as required to support workflow Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to maintain positive and productive relationships with internal and external teams and customers

Motor Vehicle Operator Designation

Employees in this position: Will operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose as a non-frequent driver

Note: A frequent driver is defined as an individual who uses a personal or UF Health Shands vehicle: At least once daily, Or At least five (5) individual trips per week, Or Drives, on average, more than 150 miles per week in the performance of job duties
