Job Summary
The Supervisor, Health Information Management (HIM) is responsible for overseeing daily HIM operations and ensuring efficient workflow across core HIM functions, including record processing, deficiency management, and document imaging. This role supports the HIM Manager and/or Director and helps ensure compliance with federal, state, and accrediting body requirements. The Supervisor serves as a key resource for HIM staff, assists with performance improvement activities, and supports staff training and adherence to best practices. In the absence of the HIM Manager or Director, this role provides departmental leadership.
Essential Functions
Leadership Responsibilities
Supervision and Staff Management
Supervises, trains and oversees departmental staff.
Schedules employees to ensure effective use of resources. Consults with Manager or Director on staffing issues.
Assists with and contributes to performance evaluations and goal setting.
Strategic Planning and Financial Oversight
Assists in managing departmental budget ensuring cost-effective operations while maintain high quality service.
Monitors expenditures, ensuring cost-effective delivery of services.
May contribute to evaluation and implementation of new technologies to enhance operational efficiency.
May contribute to development of departmental policies, procedures and protocols.
Quality Assurance and Regulatory Compliance
Ensures compliance with all relevant regulatory bodies.
May participate in audits, inspections and accreditation processes as applicable.
Follows established quality control practices to ensure accuracy, consistency and safety.
Collaboration and Communication
Works closely with leadership teams to coordinate and improve service delivery.
Stays up-to-date with industry advancements, new technologies, and regulatory changes.
Staff Responsibilities
May work in a staff role, when required. Ensures that duties and responsibilities are fulfilled while meeting all competencies established for that job.

Established from the roots of Inland Empire Community Health Center in Bloomington, CHSI has grown with community health centers in the counties of Riverside, San Bernardino, and San Diego. These centers have been developed in accordance with standards established for safety net providers by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA), the Public Health Service (PHS), and the Bureau of Primary Health Care (BPHC).
As such, services are offered to the neediest in each community - the un-insured and under-insured, the working poor, those with limited ability to pay, the homeless, and the indigent. Services are provided at discounted (sliding fee scale) rates for those who qualify based on gross annual income and family size.
