The Supervisor oversees day-to-day security operations across assigned Port of Galveston facilities. This role ensures personnel performance, compliance with post orders, alignment with Port security expectations, and consistent delivery of customer-focused service. The Supervisor coordinates staffing, conducts inspections, supports incident response, and provides frontline leadership while maintaining the security framework governed by Port procedures, TWIC protocols, MARSEC posture, and FSP-aligned responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Oversight
- Lead, guide, and support Security Officers, ensuring compliance with company policies, Port procedures, and assigned post orders.
- Monitor officer performance, appearance, conduct, punctuality, and adherence to assigned duties.
- Ensure staff receive required breaks, rotations, and coverage so all posts remain continuously staffed.
- Conduct in-person site inspections during shifts to verify proper performance and identify deficiencies.
Security Operations
- Support access control operations, TWIC verification, and enforcement of checkpoint and restricted-area procedures.
- Oversee MARSEC/FSP-aligned duties to ensure personnel understand and execute requirements appropriate to current Port security posture.
- Respond to incidents, assist first responders when appropriate, and ensure prompt notification to:
- Operations Manager
- Port Dispatch
- Facility Security Officer (FSO)
Training & Development
- Mentor and coach officers on procedures, customer service, communication, and safety practices.
- Participate in onboarding and recurring training sessions; ensure staff complete required learning modules and certifications.
Reporting & Documentation
- Review officer reports and daily logs for accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure all incident reports meet Port standards and are submitted within required timeframes.
- Communicate operational issues, personnel concerns, or safety hazards to management promptly.
Customer & Stakeholder Service
- Serve as the primary on-shift point of contact for Port personnel, cruise partners, vendors, and terminal staff.
- Maintain professional communication through email, text, phone, and radio channels.
- Support guest flow and operational efficiency during peak terminal activity.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory or security operations experience.
- Valid Texas Non-Commissioned Security Officer License.
- Valid TWIC card (or ability to obtain/maintain).
- Valid driver's license and ability to operate company vehicles as assigned.

Training Requirements
Supervisors complete the same foundational training as Security Officers plus:
- Enhanced training in communication, incident escalation, and field supervision
- Familiarity with MARSEC/FSP-aligned supervisory expectations
- Participation in Port drills, exercises, and emergency simulation events
