Job Description

Salary:
$5,667.67 - $10,666.66 per month commensurate with experience.
Job Description Summary:
The Construction Supervisor is responsible for monitoring the mechanical construction aspects of all construction projects. These projects involve new facilities and major renovations for the institutions and agencies of The Texas A&M University System.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Project Managers with the interpretation of contract documents and ensuring that project mechanical work conforms to the contract documents.
- Coordinate with Project Managers concerning the start-up of mechanical systems.
- Conduct project inspections for proper installation of mechanical systems.
- Review drawings and specifications for conformity to The Texas A&M University System mechanical construction standards, code requirements and construction costs and recommend alternate solutions where required.
- Review requests for additional work from the architect/engineer, contractor or using agency for mechanical modifications.
- Prepare field reports with details of conditions observed, instructions given and recommendations for corrective actions required.
- Provide field training to Facilities Planning & Construction staff related to mechanical construction.
- Review submittals, testing and air balance reports and related correspondence for compliance with contract documents.
- Assist with selection of the testing, balancing and commissioning agents.
- Assist in coordinating testing, air balancing and commissioning work.
- Approve payments to these agents.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar program or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Seven years of mechanical construction experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of construction principles and practices.
- Ability to read and interpret contract documents and the ability to maintain an effective relationship with project architects/engineers and contractors.
- Ability to travel.
- Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.
