Overview:
The Supervisor Child Care works under the general direction of the Manager Child Care. Assists the Manager in the responsibilities of educational programming for the Child Care Center, providing supervision and support of staff. Assists in planning, managing and coordinating components of parent engagement, childcare supervision and curriculum development and planning, and compliance with state licensing and accreditation standards. Supervisor is responsible for filling in for Manager in their absence.

Responsibilities:
- Supervise and monitor the center classrooms and staff on an ongoing basis.
- Observe, monitor and coach in the following areas: appropriate developmental practices, lesson plans, daily programs, portfolios, center and organization’s program goals, standards and policies, licensing regulations and accreditation criteria, and team work.
- Evaluate teacher and assistant job skills and knowledge.
- Provide orientation and training for new and existing staff.
- Provide opportunities for continuing education and staff development.
- Act as a resource person for center staff in areas of program, child related matters, appropriate practices, guidance and discipline of children, meeting special needs, etc.
- Provides ongoing feedback to all direct reports, both formal and informal, in the form of individual and small group meetings as well as during annual reviews.
- Assists Manager on implementation of childcare program policies and procedures
- Seeks opportunities for continuous program improvement and innovation, responding proactively to changing conditions that enhance program quality
- Collaborates with Manager and the child care team on planning based off information gathered during annual comprehensive parent evaluation
- Documents ongoing staff feedback along with contemporary information about early childhood education and program development to ensure that the vision for program excellence is upheld.
- Assist the manager in monitoring child/staff ratios and staffing needs on a daily basis and overseeing the general operation of the center in order to ensure that quality child care is being provided.
- Maintain necessary records for Department of Human Services licensing regulations and accreditation criteria.
- Provides enrollment and enrollment support for the program.
- Conduct interviews in collaboration with the Manager.
- Assists in the security and welfare of children while at the center, assures teachers are trained in policy and procedure on and off site (fieldtrips) and that systems are monitored for security
- Participates in morning huddles, staff meetings and continuing education events.
- Completes Professional Development Responsibilities to promote continued growth and development and supports efforts to serve as a community resource of high quality child care.
- Shows initiative to improve quality and customer service by striving to exceed expectations by living UPH Values and Standards.
- Maintains positive relationships with other entities through the early childhood/childcare community at large
- Serves as a resource for community programs

Qualifications:
Education:
- BA/BS in Early Childhood Education or related field with at least 24 credit hours in Early Childhood Education including infant thru preschool required.
- MA in Early Childhood Education or related field. Registry Level 12 and Director Authorization for 51+ children preferred.
Experience:
- Two (2) years’ experience in an Early Childhood program with 2-3 years’ experience in a supervisory or leadership role required.
License(s)/Certification(s):
- Current and will be maintained Certification of Pediatric First Aid and CPR required within 90 days of hire.
- Training for Mandatory Reporting of Child Abuse is required within 90 days of hire.
- Training for Mandatory Reporting of Dependent Adult Abuse required within 90 days of hire.
- Essentials Child Care Preservice required within 90 days of hire.
