Our Client is looking to hire a Supervisor and Set-up Lead to join their team in Mentor! Our Client is a leader in creating re-useable connectors that securely connects electrical wires using a screw mechanism.
The Supervisor and Set up Lead would be responsible for ensuring production commitments are met and compliant with all policies, procedures, and work instructions.
Qualified Candidates would need experience within a supervisory role, CNC machine operation experience, experience with various measuring devices, and the ability to read blueprints.
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for ensuring production commitments are met and compliant with all policies, procedures, and work instructions.
- Responsible for the safety, quality, and performance of those working in the machine shop.
- Responsible for directing machine shop operations & material.
- Participate in daily shift communication meetings to discuss issues and priorities with prior and following shifts.
- Lead set-ups to completion utilizing machine operators and other resources to get the job done in the shortest amount of time possible.
- After 48 hours (2 days) you need to take charge of the set-up and finish it with or without them.
- Update set-up sheets (if necessary) in set-up binder before teardowns.
- Troubleshoot machine issues as needed to keep down-time to a minimum.
- Perform visual part check, at each work center, at least 2 times per shift: part mark, caps, saw burrs, inside burrs, thread
depth, and other cosmetic issues, etc.
- Review machine operator stats for your area of responsibility.
- Run the machines when machine operators are absent when time allows.
- Check cycle-times on machines daily.
- Make improvements to set-ups and cycle-times.
- Perform machine operator training and hourly checks as needed.
- Move people to priority machines and keep them staffed.
- Determine machine operators' capabilities using the 3, 6, 9, 11-week evaluation sheets prior to being hired.
- Ensure daily, weekly, and monthly checks on are being performed on the machines.
- Ensure weekly/Monthly machine PM's are being performed.
- Identify drill/tapping heads that need repaired and coordinate with maintenance.
- Identify pumps and motors that need repaired or replaced due to leaks or bearing issues and coordinate with maintenance.
- Ensure tools are in shadow boards of each toolbox.
- You will be evaluated based on how well your team performs.
- Handle other assignments as determined by management.
Job Requirements:
- Must have people skills and previous supervision experience.
- Must have excellent organization, planning, communication, and documentation skills.
- Successful track record of working in cross-functionally
- Must have proven machining experience.
- Strong computer, verbal, and written communication skills
- Must have a strong understanding of machining fundamentals and machine shop best practices.
- Must have computer skills such as AutoCAD/Inventor, SQL, MS Excel, MS Access, MS Visio.
- Must be able to touch-type at least 40 wpm.
