POSITION SUMMARY

This position is accountable for providing project leadership for field construction activities and personnel. Ensures that the assigned projects meet budget schedule quality and safety objectives. They are also influential in the management of other employees and helping to ensure that the company has the field personnel necessary to meet staffing needs. Will participate in business development and estimating activities within their core competency.

The incumbent must have the ability and flexibility to work varying shifts and long hours (8-12 hours). Weekend work and extra hours occur according to production needs.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Works closely with management to plan and execute projects and ensure their successful completion.

Plans and supervises all activities, including determining the method of construction, sequencing, manpower levels, material quantities, equipment, and work schedule.

Trains and develops experienced Foremen, lead working on their projects.

Manages the day-to-day activities of the construction operation through assigned personnel.

Creates and maintains project schedule plans, monitors and reviews critical path dates and milestone schedules in conjunction with the Project Manager and General Contractor.

Communicates site problems, plan conflicts, schedule, and quality issues effectively to the Project Manager and General Contractor.

Proactively identifies and resolves field construction problems.

Maintains open communication with other subcontractors to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, etc., support project activities and project schedule.

Ensures that project safety protocols are implemented and followed, including Site Specific Safety Plans, JSAs, Daily Activity Planner, and Tool Box Talks.

Monitors all personnel and subcontractors for compliance with project safety program requirements, actively evaluates the effectiveness, and ensures that corrective measures are implemented.

Participates in monthly Jobsite Safety Assessments and assists the Safety Department in performing incident and/or accident investigations and follow-up.

Actively and continually monitors project equipment needs, utilization, and maintenance requirements.

Understands all subcontractors scopes, assures subcontractors maintain schedules and quality standards, meet contract requirements.

Works with the General Contractor to ensure work complies with drawings and specifications.

Provides input to the Project Manager regarding cost and schedule forecasts.

Assists the Project Manager with review and completion of monthly pay requests.

Assists the Project Manager with Change Order review.

Performs project close-out and ensures punch list is completed in a timely manner.

Actively participates in business development and estimating activities within their core competency.

Performs additional assignments per supervisors direction.

Maintains equipment and tools to ensure long-lasting use.

Performs other related administrative and technical duties as may be assigned or requested by immediate supervision, such as certification training, safety training, procedure review, etc.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

A minimum of 5 years of experience on concrete construction projects in increasingly more responsible field supervisory capacity.

Advanced knowledge of construction scheduling, cost control, and ability to manage large groups.

In addition, the incumbent must have:

  • Excellent organization skills to effectively oversee all aspects of the project.
  • Ability to hold their crews accountable for safe work practices and work performance excellence.
  • Foresight to avoid potential problems before they arise.
  • A conscientious attitude towards controlling job costs and adhering to project schedules.
  • Ability to influence and motivate their work crews.
  • Outstanding communication skills.

Must have a valid Texas Driver License with a reasonably clean driving record.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

The incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation.

The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required, including hard hat safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, steel-toed shoes, or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and location.

This individual must also have the ability to identify critical issues and formulate action plans with all levels of management, including corporate and executive.

The incumbent must possess the ability to remain calm during emergencies and respond appropriately as dictated by the circumstance of the incident and as directed by the Safety Representative or other management personnel.

Must be capable of evacuating the work area in a timely manner should an emergency situation arise.
