Superintendent, Self Perform (7+ YOE as a Super)

POSITION SUMMARY:
As a Construction Superintendent, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the construction of manufacturing facilities. You will serve as the primary coordinator of field operations, working cross-functionally with base build, construction engineering, and manufacturing engineering teams to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage day-to-day field operations for large-scale HVAC and ductwork installation, enforcing project schedules and maintaining crew productivity.
• Lead, mentor, and supervise foremen and journeymen across crews of 15 50+ workers and multiple subcontractors, in union or open-shop labor markets.
• Build and maintain look-ahead schedules and pull-planning sessions; track progress using Primavera P6 or MS Project.
• Oversee cost control, including labor tracking, material management, change order documentation, and extra work tickets.
• Enforce quality control to SMACNA standards, manufacturer requirements, and contract specifications; manage punch-list completion.
• Develop and enforce site-specific safety plans, conduct JHAs/JSAs, and lead incident investigations.
• Coordinate closely with the General Contractor, other trades (electrical, plumbing, fire protection, controls), engineers, and commissioning agents.
• Support submittal review, respond to RFIs, prepare daily reports, and represent the project in owner/GC meetings.
• Coordinate equipment rigging, crane picks, and heavy equipment setting and startup.
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and coordination drawings, including BIM/VDC clash detection review

• Minimum 7 10+ years of progressive HVAC construction experience.
• Demonstrated experience on large commercial and industrial projects (hospitals, data centers, labs, manufacturing plants, high-rises, central plants, process facilities, etc.).
• Direct hands-on and supervisory experience with:
• Complex ductwork systems galvanized, stainless, aluminum, welded, phenolic, fabric, kitchen exhaust, lab exhaust, underground, etc.
  • SMACNA duct construction standards and sealing classes
  • Large air-handling units, custom AHUs, energy recovery, VAV/FPB systems
  • Chillers, boilers, cooling towers, pumps, and hydronic systems
• Proven track record managing crews of 15 50+ workers and multiple subcontractors. Technical Knowledge & Industry Standards " SMACNA HVAC Duct Construction Standards, Architectural Sheet Metal Manual, and related guidelines.
• SHRAE standards (62.1, 90.1, 55, 15, etc.).
• International Mechanical Code (IMC), International Building Code (IBC), and local amendments.
• NFPA standards, especially 90A, 90B, and 96 (kitchen exhaust).
• DW/144 or equivalent where applicable; awareness of SMACNA seismic and hanging standards.
• Refrigerant management and EPA requirements.
• Testing, Adjusting & Balancing (TAB) processes and coordination with NEBB/AABC firms.
• Basic understanding of controls (BACnet, DDC) and commissioning (Cx) processes.
• Blueprint and shop drawing reading, coordination drawings; BIM/VDC clash detection experience (Navisworks preferred).
• Rigging, crane picks, and heavy equipment setting.

• OSHA 30-Hour Construction (required in most cases).
• EPA Section 608 Universal Certification. " First Aid / CPR / AED.

• High school diploma or GED required.
