The Role You Will Play:

To guide all field activities while on projects while adhering to all company policies and OSHA / MSHA regulations while meeting all safety, quality, and schedule goals.

  • Build a team atmosphere to allow foreman and operators to thrive and succeed
  • Manage several foreman / lead men on separate projects and provide them with the tools, equipment, and technical support they need.
  • Manage several projects in varying locations (currently most work is in central SC)
  • Attend client meetings
  • Attend pre-con meetings
  • Work with Project Engineer to ensure materials are submitted, approved, and delivered on time
  • Work with Project Engineer to ensure layout is correct and performed ahead of time
  • Schedule equipment delivery
  • Schedule meetings with engineers and owners
  • Maintain all erosion control inspections and ensure compliance
  • Communicate scope, details, and schedule with the foremen
  • Random onsite inspections
  • Management of production requirements as set forth in the project schedules
  • Assist in training new hires and existing personnel
  • Assist in recruiting and screening new employees
  • Assist in safety meetings
  • Communicate project billing information to the office for timely invoicing
  • Communicate project time sheets to the office for payroll
  • Maintain a project file of fuel sheets, load count sheets, hourly work, change order requests, and all applicable materials lists
  • Schedule and order necessary construction materials
  • Maintain MSHA compliance on projects
  • Check the onsite MSHA binder for compliance
  • Ensure foremen / lead men have all MSHA paperwork organized and up to date
  • Random inspections of vehicles, equipment, and projects
  • Attend all required MSHA training
  • Maintain all expense reports, credit card receipts, coded correctly and turned in weekly
  • Maintain a professional appearance at all times

  • Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures
  • Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored when not in use
  • Participate in routine maintenance when needed
  • Practice workplace safety
  • Maintain inventory
  • Complete daily fuel, load count, and hour logs
  • General daily preventative equipment maintenance
  • Maintain current tool inventory in maintenance trailer / truck
  • Maintain fuel tank level and inventory, communicate to management for deliveries
  • Install and maintain silt fence
  • Maintain all erosion control devices and report deficiencies
  • Guide and lead the crew in daily activities
  • Perform minor emergency repairs on equipment as needed

General site preparation techniques and procedures

Knowledge of Utility installations for water, sanitary, storm sewer and related piping, trenching needed.

Knowledge of and ability to operate front end loaders, dozers, graders, compactors, excavators, scrapers, and other heavy equipment.

Knowledge of equipment maintenance and storage

Knowledge of road construction and maintenance techniques

Knowledge of workplace safety requirements and procedures

Knowledge of equipment cleaning standards and procedures

Ability to communicate effectively in English
