TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: Based on Summer School Schedule
RATE OF PAY: Out of district teacher pay $23.50 per hour OASD teacher pay $30.00 per hour OASD teacher pay with 5 consecutive years of summer instruction $35.00 per hour
DESCRIPTION: To provide district-wide summer school nursing services as needed and to assist in creating a climate of health and wellness in all of the district's sites for summer school/ESY.
QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree required. • Valid State of Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license required. • Valid Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction certification in the respective classification: (DPI Code 75 - School Nurse) preferred. • Experience working with school age children, including an ability to work with children who have disabilities and children with special health needs. • Experience in communicable disease control. • Effective written and verbal communication skills. • Knowledge of community resources available for health services. • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Share necessary health information with peers, students, family, staff, other professionals and the community. • Establish, review, and revise procedures for a comprehensive school health program in consultation with administration and the district health advisory committee. • Assist in training and supervision of health assistants assigned to the school nurses. • Establish and implement procedures to identify students having physical and related adjustment problems and make referrals to special education or Section 504 in a timely fashion. • Communicate health needs of students to parents, appropriate school personnel and outside agencies when appropriate. • Complete written reports, such as the students' immunization records, as required in a timely fashion. • Assume responsibility for initiation of pupil health records upon enrollment and maintain complete records on students. • Assure compliance in order to provide adequate health care according to student health plans enrolled in summer school and ESY. • Inform, monitor, and request adjustment in interventions, adaptations of the instructional programs as needed, or adjustments in environment required by students to meet their individual health needs. • Teach the principles of health promotion and disease prevention to individuals and groups, as needed or requested. • Act as a resource person in health education to school personnel, students, and families for summer school/ESY. • Interpret school health service needs and the role of the school nurse to the school and community. • Collaborate with agencies within and outside of the community to assure continuity of health care services. • Recruit outside resources to assist the district in assessing and obtaining health care services to meet students' needs. • Perform such other duties as may be determined by the administrative staff within the parameters of Board policies, state statutes, and administrative rules.
