Job Title: Summer School Lead

Work Location: Lakeside High School

Position Summary

This role sits at the center of summer learning for students working to get back on track. You will manage the online platform used for credit retrieval, monitor student progress, and provide support when students need direction. The work includes regular communication with students and families, as well as consistent collaboration with counseling to support students who are credit deficient. Weekly on-campus office hours provide a structured opportunity for student support.

Nature and Scope of Job

Coordinate and oversee the summer school credit retrieval program. Monitor student progress, support completion of coursework, communicate with students and families, and collaborate with counseling staff. Maintain weekly on-campus office hours. This position is capped at 90 hours and requires submission of hours worked.

Position Reports To: Brent Osborn, Principal

Employment Period: Summer 2026 (2025/26 School Year)

Terms of Employment and Salary

This is a supplemental contract position and will be compensated at the Extended Teaching Responsibilities Rate, in accordance with the Nine Mile Falls Education Association (NMEA) Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Eligibility

  • Must be a current Nine Mile Falls School District certificated employee (NMEA bargaining unit)
  • Must hold a valid Washington State teaching certificate

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor student progress within the online credit retrieval platform
  • Communicate with students and families regarding progress and completion
  • Provide support and intervention to students as needed
  • Collaborate with counseling staff to support credit-deficient students
  • Hold weekly on-campus office hours (minimum 2 hours per week)
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and hours worked

Keeping the School Day Running and Connected

The front office is a steady point in an Elementary School (TK-5), as well as for our Family Partnership Program (K-8). Students come in with questions, families reach out for support, and staff rely on clear communication to keep the day moving. This role helps bring structure to that flow while making sure people feel welcomed and supported. The work is both practical and people-centered, requiring attention to detail and a calm, consistent presence.

Over time, those daily interactions build trust and shape how students and families experience the school. This role supports the systems that keep the building running while also providing a reliable presence that others can count on. It is steady work with real impact, grounded in follow-through, sound judgment, and care for the school community.

Salary: The Hourly Rate range for the position is: Min. $23.36 - $30.48. Salary placement will be at Step 1 of the Nine Mile Classified Public Employees Association Collective Bargaining Agreement, unless documentation of experience is received per the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Benefits: Each employee shall accumulate up to twelve (12) days of sick leave per year. An employee employed less than a full work year shall be entitled to a proportionate part of the sick leave allowance. (Example: An employee working 10 months will receive 10 days of sick leave.) A maximum of three (3) Annual Leave days are provided for all employees based on the employee's scheduled employment hours per day to be used for an absence during work hours, or to be accumulated for the purpose of cash out.

Employees anticipated to work more than 630 hours per year will be eligible for Benefits through the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB). Standard benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and Long-Term Disability. Positions anticipated to work 70 hours or more per month for at least 5 months over a 12-month period are eligible for Retirement through the State Department of Retirement Services.

Schedule: 8 hrs. per day (7:30 AM - 4:00 PM) pursuant to the 2025/2026 School Calendar. (Total Days in a Full Calendar - 210 Days)

One day every other week during the summer to sort mail and pick up phone messages. Time will be time sheeted and paid according to the time worked up to 10 additional hours.

Nature and Scope of Job: (1-2 sentence summary of position):

The school secretary provides a variety of office secretarial, bookkeeping, and administrative duties which require a broad knowledge of both secretarial and clerical practices and procedures. The position serves as secretary to two school programs and their principal and staff. The position requires a thorough knowledge of all school functions, procedures, building facilities, and applicable district and school rules, regulations and policies. The individual will establish and maintain a good rapport and helpful, congenial atmosphere for students, staff, and all individuals who enter the building. A high degree of technical and communication skills are necessary to successfully perform such duties and responsibilities as assigned by the building principal.

Primary Job Functions

  • Daily and continual recordkeeping of student attendance.
  • Maintenance of the building calendar.
  • Coordinating and managing daily office operation.
  • Assist in promoting a positive public relations image.
  • Answer telephone, greet visitors, record and deliver messages.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information.
  • Uses PC computer. Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and student data applications such as Skyward.
  • Maintain accurate and current files pertaining to office business.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date, student information in electronic student data system. Produce reports from system as needed.
  • Responsible for the creation and maintenance of student records including discipline, health, and cumulative files for current and past students.
  • Collaborate with secretaries from other buildings.
  • Enroll, transfer, and withdraw students.
  • Maintain health room/assist with ill/injured students/call parents if needed.
  • Disperse medications to students following established procedures.
  • Produce/file/download various state reports.

  • Assist with staff Absences/Substitutes: Maintain records of classified and certified absences, monitor substitute calling system, call guest teachers and classified substitutes when system has not filled position. Greet/orientate substitutes as they arrive daily.
  • Maintain communication with the district's schools and administration office.
  • Assist with sorting and distributing mail.
  • Receipt payments and prepare building deposits no less than weekly.
  • Other duties as assigned by principal and/or principal's designee.

Substitute secretaries help ensure that the school office continues to function smoothly so students, staff, and families receive the support they need throughout the day.

Nature and Scope of Job:

The Substitute Secretary provides short-term clerical and administrative support within school offices. Under the direction of the building principal or designee, substitute secretaries assist with the daily operations of the school office and help ensure that communication, recordkeeping, and office procedures continue without interruption.

Substitute secretaries may be assigned to elementary, middle, or high school offices and may assist with a variety of front office and clerical responsibilities depending on the needs of the building.

This position frequently serves as the first point of contact for students, staff, families, and visitors. Professional communication, organization, and the ability to manage multiple tasks are essential.

Primary Job Functions

  • Assignments may vary by building but commonly include:

LAP/Title provides targeted assistance to students with specific academic needs. Preschool paraeducators foster learning through intentional play, exploration and language-rich environments. Resource Room supports and delivers systematic instruction designed by special education teacher.

The instructional paraeducator may also perform clerical and office tasks in support of teachers and other district staff.

  • Completed a registered apprenticeship program.

Nine Mile Falls School District is seeking Substitute Teachers who genuinely enjoy being with students and who take the responsibility of stepping into a classroom seriously. This role is for educators who want to remain connected to schools and who understand that even a single day can shape how students experience learning.

Substitute teaching in our district means providing continuity and a steady presence when students need it. You may be following detailed plans or making real-time decisions in a busy classroom, but either way, your role matters. Our schools value substitutes who build positive rapport quickly, work well with staff, and care about the tone they set for students. Whether you are with us occasionally or more consistently, you are treated as part of the team and trusted to do important work.

Salary: Substitute Teachers will earn $150 per full day or $75 per half day.

Benefits: Substitutes will accrue 1 hour of sick leave for every 40 hours worked. Substitutes who work 630 hours will become benefit-eligible for the remainder of the school year. Standard benefits include Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, and Long-Term Disability. Nature and Scope of Job: (1 or 2 sentence summary of position)

Under the direction and supervision of the principal/designee, this teaching position will substitute for regular district teachers by planning instruction as needed, teaching, and assessing students in assigned grade(s)/subject area(s). This teaching position will promote our district's Shared Values and Core Beliefs regarding high-quality education for all students.

Position Reports To: Building Administrator / Superintendent

Classification: Substitute Certificated Teacher

Work Day: Monday - Friday; Hours Vary

Begin: 2025/2026 School Year

  • Demonstrate instructional skill in the assigned grade(s)/content area(s).
  • Current knowledge of and ability to apply multiple teaching techniques.
  • Demonstrate ability to work as part of an integrated teaching team.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skill in initiating and applying effective classroom management strategies.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the emotional, physical, intellectual and social needs of students.
  • Encourage students to think independently and to express original ideas.
  • Must be open minded, enthusiastic, and flexible in meeting the needs of students and the community.
  • Willingness to commit to and support school wide goals and practices, as needed.
  • Actively participate in and/or support district and building Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), as needed.
  • Ability to confer and communicate with parents and school/district staff regarding student progress, as required.
  • Ability to maintain a positive classroom environment through the use of appropriate discipline and classroom management techniques, with clear systems and structures implemented consistent with School District policies, procedures and practices.
  • Knowledge and application of current technology.
  • Ability to communicate and establish rapport with children, parents, staff, community and administrative personnel.
