This is a seasonal position. Employment dates are from June 29, through August 16, 2026; Monday-Friday; 9:30 am- 2:30 pm (Times may be adjusted due to work volume.).

The Summer Program Associate supports daily operations of the Feed the Kids by assisting with kitchen preparation, assembling and lunches, receiving and sorting donated items, and serving meals with activities to children at onsite locations. This position plays a key role in ensuring meals are prepared safely, efficiently, and served with care and dignity to children in the community. The Summer Program Associate will also assist with tasks related to the general operations of the Distribution Center, including, but not limited to, receiving donations, sorting donated items, preparing space and setting up volunteer groups.

About the role:

Kitchen Preparation:

  • Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as washing, cutting, portioning, and organizing food items
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen and food prep area
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene guidelines

Assembling Lunches:

  • Assemble bagged or boxed lunches according to program standards
  • Ensure meals are properly portioned, labeled, and packaged
  • Prepare meals for daily distribution and onsite service

Receiving and Sorting:

  • Assist with receiving food and supplies
  • Sort, organize, and store donated items appropriately
  • Help maintain inventory and ensure donated items are handled safely

Serving Meals:

  • Serve lunches for children onsite in a friendly and respectful manner
  • Assist with set‑up and cleanup of meal service area
  • Manage activities that engage children during the lunch service
  • Help create a welcoming and positive environment for children and families

Education and Experience/Skills/Requirements

  • Experience working with children or in group settings (preferred but not required)
  • Interest in food service, community programs, or nonprofit work
  • Ability to count and use basic math concepts
  • Maintain professionalism when interacting with staff, volunteers, and program participants
  • Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality
  • Follow instructions and complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light lifting as needed
