Incumbents to this position perform routine patrol work at a swimming pool looking after the safety and welfare of the swimmers. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Supervising Lifeguard, however, there is considerable responsibility for the exercise of sound judgment in emergencies. Examples of work (Illustration Only)
Stands watch or patrols swimming pool keeping bathers within bounds and going to their aid when they are in difficulty; Applies resuscitation techniques and otherwise renders first aid; Instructs beginners in swimming and life saving; Keeps the pool free of debris and operates chlorinator and sanitation system; Performs other routine duties such as maintaining order and compliance with pool rules. Minimum Qualifications
Must possess the following current certificates at time of appointment: 1. Advanced Lifesaving and Water Safety OR Lifeguard Training 2.
