SUMMER DAY CAMP ASSISTANT DIRECTOR - SUMMER SEASON 2026

Greenville County Rec Starting Rate: $14.48/hour

NOTE: Greenville County Rec operates several summer camps for children at our Community Centers. Job applicants may be hired to work at one of these locations, however, if you have a summer camp location preference, please indicate this within your application for consideration.

Seeking dependable, responsible, and energetic individuals to join Greenville County Rec as Summer Day Camp Assistant Directors.

Assists Day Camp Director or Center Manager and additional Greenville Rec Staff in organizing and presenting a diversified day camp program. Supervises program participants and implements appropriate disciplinary measures as necessary to maintain order and safety. Trains and provides leadership to camp counselor staff as assigned. Serves as Camp Director when senior staff are not present.

Additional duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assisting with preparation of camp calendars • Implementing the daily programs, games, arts and crafts, sports activities, nature activities, and field trips, etc. • Monitoring, implementing, and enforcing all camp field trip policies and procedures • Responsible for driving a 15-passenger mini-bus as needed • Assisting with and coordinating the daily meal program • Setting up for and cleaning up after programs and activities • Requesting and maintaining activity supplies and materials • Preparing routine records and reports as required • Maintaining effective communications with participants, parents, staff, and Supervisors • Receiving and responding effectively to inquiries, concerns, complaints, and requests for assistance in a timely manner • Completing additional duties as they apply to operating a quality program from our participants.

Qualifications

Must be 18 at time of employment. Requires HS diploma or equivalent. A minimum of six months relevant experience. A valid state drivers license. Must successfully pass a criminal background check. Must possess or obtain current CPR/First Aid/AED certification. Greenville Rec will provide this training to staff if necessary.
