POSITION SUMMARY
The Medical Professional is responsible for managing the camp infirmary and responding to health care emergencies. This position also involves managing medical records of campers and staff and supervising health and cleanliness standards and upholding the health and wellness standards of the American Camping Association. In addition, every position in the YMCA of Greensboro is responsible for carrying out our promise to strengthen the foundations of community with focus on Youth Development, Healthy Living and Social Responsibility while upholding our values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Ensure all health care procedures are followed • Dispense camper and staff medications • Participate in resident camp check-in to accept camper medications • Ensure that adequate health screening is done for arriving campers and staff • Be responsible for communicating special dietary requirements to food service director and counselors • Make doctors appointments for resident camp children needing medical care • Respond to health care emergencies and make decisions on how to handle them • Monitor and evaluate camp procedures to promote more healthy conditions in the camp • Read and understand medications and their uses • Ensure incident report forms are completed as needed • Enter all camper health care and medication administration into online spreadsheets • Proficient with using camp management system "Campwise" to access camper health records and contact information

QUALIFICATIONS

1) RN License or above (PA, MD, etc.) preferred; or minimum of four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2) Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

6) While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
7) Certifications required - CPR, First Aid, Blood Borne Pathogen training required after hire, Current License as a Registered Nurse preferred - PA or MD and similar qualifications are also appropriate.
